COVID-19 potential restrictions on riding?

Isnt that residential construction? If so, "essential".
The only way I see it as essential is it it’s already underway. But....open that door and a lot of Renovations would be magically started right away.

tough call because when times are good....they’re great....and the toys get bought.

I would happily argue that for a two to four week period almost no construction is essential. Especially not anything involving interior work. Sure it would put a dent in the economy, but I think a big dent for a short time is better that the current plan which I think sets us up for a very long period of economic pain.

As for the toys, I still like brian p's plan from the beginning. Trudeau just makes a month that never happened. No income, no expenses, not interest paid or collected. Just never happened financially.

Buddy is in the concrete finishing business, work IS shut down. He can't even start work on building his own garage in his off time. Why -> no permits being issued no inspections being done and you aren't going to be ordering truck loads of concrete during half load season when there is a pandemic on the lose :/ it simply ain't happening and only a politician that has no clue how construction works would suggest that work can continue.

Some UK residents got a letter to stay home for the next 12 weeks...not even allowed to get groceries.

Still have to pay for things like groceries at the absolute minimum though. When our kids still lived at home that was easily $750-$1000/month right there alone.

The "no expenses" thing is a nice idea, but things like utilities (to name but one thing) can't just be told to "forget the month ever happened, along with the bill".

Source?

That doesn't seem very realistic. People would be starving to death in their houses.

UK must have a food and supply drop plan in mind.

Actually some things could go that way. Anything that is a crown corporation or where ownership, resources and employees are normally government revenue generating.

Are they planning on delivering food to them? Or just let them starve to death? Because 12 weeks is basically opening civil warfare....and I hope we’re not there yet.

EDIT: read a few articles just now.....it’s only for the most vulnerable, and people recovering from surgeries which will have basic supplies and groceries dropped off at their door.

Source? You too busy to use google PP?

Groceries need to be dropped off at their door by local councils in conjunction with their local supermarkets. One guy I know has already self-isolated for 3 weeks so he’s now being told to add another 12 weeks to that.

It’s not everyone...but rather those who have major health issues.

It’s typically not up to the person reading an unsubstantiated claim to substantiate it. Especially when we’ve now learned after a few responses it was made without the entire story.

Now that we know the entire story it doesn’t seem as off the wall as the original claim.

Dirtbike dude in that photo is going to have his leg snapped like a twig if it hooks up on something.

FFS. How F*****G important is it for someone to go for a ride. READ the stats. Stay home.

Hostile much? I'm not talking about missing out on a ride or two, I'm talking about the notion of potentially missing out on the majority if not all of the riding season. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find someone on this forum that wouldn't find that notion off-putting to some degree. I get it, there's bigger priorities to focus on with this virus but FFS this is a motorcycle board.

..consisting of human beings. I'm sure similar things are being said on tennis forums, bicycle forums, dog forums, hiking forums, etc. Eventually the exceptions are the norm because everyone is special.

Currently, I don't think the situation means no riding. I'm prepping my bike hoping that i'll get a ride or two in.
I have friends that are nurses in emergency in two hospitals in the GTA and they both are saying its currently quieter than usual. Possibly calm before the storm but who knows, all the measures they are putting in won't have results for at least another 2-3 weeks.
If the situation ends up like Italy, NYC, Seattle, I would hang up the leathers for the as long as required. I almost didn't ride at all last year by choice for another reason and it was horrible.
Because as others have stated, I am not willing to risk taking the bed (hospital) and as a result the life of someone else if I get into an accident.
