Need recommendation for a Fuel Resistant glue or caulking?

Can you post a pic of the tank to show the crack?

Was it hit by something?

I will try to get one when get a change.
I doubt the crack will be visible in the picture.

It is only about 1-2 inches long sort of at the crease of the tank.
It was hard to find to begind with and I only found it by following the fuel trail.

When I stored it after last winter there was no crack. Nothing hit it in the shed.
The only thing I can think is it cracked from pressure created by my straps that I use to lift it with a small 1/4T chain hoist.
I do this to lift it onto a counter height platform I created so I can utilize the space underneath it. To store my lawnmore.

That could have done it.

I only ask for a photo so we can see the area of the leak (please point to it in the pic) so those with expertise can recommend the best product and best way to fix it.

If it’s anything like the fuel tank on my 28” Craftsman, it’s a 2-piece tank with a horizontal seam about 1/3 ways down from the top.

It is at the "seam" of the 2 halves joining.

It is very hard to see.

The red residue is from the temporary Tuck tape job I implemented to get through the recent snow fall.

It's in an ugly spot, but the upside is you can make a nice fillet that is much stronger than the original cracked material.

Yes, out of all the places this could have happened to, probably most inconvenient.

I feel like I will deal with this after the snow season. Or at lest when it gets warmer.
I really do not like working these kids of things in the cold temps.
Or I might have to preheat the garage with my ceiling heater one day and tackle it. Perhaps on a day that I am also working on the bike.

Or find out how much fuel the tank holds before leaking and just top up that much. Problem solved.

1/4 to 1/3 tank on my Craftsman does the double driveway, sidewalk and snowplow pile with a small amount left over. I don’t fill it again unless I am taking it out to use it. That’s so I can run it dry at winter’s end.

I was going to suggest waiting until warmer weather to make the repair but you’ve already figured that out.

And btw, there are much worse places that the crack could have been. Looks like you have good access and may not have to remove the tank to repair it .
