Watched the Amazon original series "The Boys" over the last week. I enjoyed the show but really hated the ending. I will not give any spoilers but I hate when shows do not wrap at least something up in the end. Too many shows have done this and never come back to finish the tale. It does seem they are already in production of season 2 so hopefully answers will come.

I did enjoy the show, it was definitely a different take on superheroes. Seem believable and realistic. Definitely dark and bloody at time but it never lost my interest which is probably why I hated that it did not wrap anything up in the end.

The Witcher series trailer came out on Netflix, huge fan of the Witcher 3 video game so hoping the show is up to par

Saw some youtube commentator go on about the Witcher series and apparently they are not connected to the games at all but taken from the books. Not sure how far the books are from the games, was a game that never really hooked me in so never got far into it.

"The Boys" - To me it's a must watch. Very large "Watchmen" vibe.
"Another Life" - Not so much this one. Makes me want to give the pimp hand to the entire crew, despite the presence of Katee Sackhoff.

Watched it as well, agree 100% with you. Worth a watch for sure.

Icarus documentary on Netflix. Really good.

I don't understand what the fuss is / was about The Wire. Tried to watch it after Breaking Bad and wondered why it was even compared?

Loved the wire. Watched on DVD years ago when it was on hbo and definitely one of my favourite shows

Maybe it's just not your thing.

Wire is one of the best shows in history.

The Wire can be hard to get into. I watched a few episodes initially and wasn’t into it/didn’t get the hype. When I had time, I tried again and watched a few more and then really got into it.

I am watching this now, thanks for the recommendation, just a few episodes in, but good!

Another series shot in Toronto. I'm sure you all recognized Roy Thomson Hall. Funny that building is used in so many different shows.

Another life - total junk.

I watched the whole season and agree. I liked the concept but they really failed in execution. First contact and possibly the fate of the Earth is on the line and the people they send seem incredibly unstable emotionally. The first hiccup and they rise up in mutiny. The whole dress how you feel felt silly and unbelievable. The crew in various situations seem to ignore all training and seem fearless or completely ignorant to things they were freaked out with the previous episode. I would avoid it, the show does not pay off.

Tried it. Switched it off after 20 mins. Terrible made for TV junk. Netflix quality is going downhill quite quickly. I was hoping it would rival HBO but there’s a quantity over quality thing going on to keep its catalogue full I think.

Netflix is pumping out new shows pretty much every week. They're focussing on quantity and not quality. Shows are a big hit or a big miss. HBO is all quality. They pump out couple shows every year that are blockbuster material.

Accurately describes it. The crew behaves like horny high schoolers at times. Annoying. I liked the SciFi bits, but the acting and execution totally ruined it.

You can pick those "scifi bits" out of any number of other classic scifi movies, TV shows, and books. There's nothing new. In fact the overall premise can be traced to, among others, a Babylon 5 episode.

I know it's nothing new. But modern CG makes it more interesting. I have a soft spot for the ufo/alien genre.

As do I, but the fact that they hit almost literally every major SciFi trope from the last 50 years just made it crap to me. I wanted to like it. I really did.
