Demo Days 2019

People treat those as joy ride and pushes them pass their own expertise...
I hope those people just bought themselves a "New" broken bike this year....
The demo day events are insured. They would've just had to pay the deductible, which itself won't be cheap. Ducati demo day at GPbikes had a deductible of $2500, and they scan your credit card before going out for a ride.

21 year old kids were riding big displacement nakeds, I'm talking 1100-1200cc + ... This shouldn't be allowed maybe

I think I saw it somewhere with displacement range with age limit.

Super Sport liter bikes are unbelievably powerful. As much as I love them, it can be deadly. We are talking 1200hp/ton machine here.

A lot of those 21 year old kids are the ones buying (or can buy). Mommy and Daddy can throw a lot of money at them because they've been good boys and gone to class (or so they say). They aren't buying Lambos with their own monies.

This gen is still living at home for the most part, lots of 'disposable' income.

they really are... I joy ride my buddies zx10r shortly after doing my M1x course. didn't wreck it or anything but wow, that was not the best idea lol. very fun, but not for me....

Sad frickin day. Was at the Honda demo day at GPbikes. Last ride of the day, someone took down 3 bikes including the one they were riding. Luckily no one was hurt, except for 3 bikes. Second incident to happen after someone took down the Panigale.

Staff said likely GPbikes won't be doing anymore demo days in the future.

They were on a automatic Africa twin. Towards the end of the ride, some folks started revving at a light, so did this rider forgetting there's no clutch. Off it went and took out 2 more bikes including theirs.

For the most part yes but every kid is different. I rode a GSXR1000 during Suzuki’s long since cancelled demo days in 2004 when I just turned 20. Thanks to that demo ride, within a month I bought the bike brand new at Mcbrides cycle. I remember at the time, there was a group of about 10 customers gathered around my bike when i took delivery and it was fired up the first time. I went and sat on it and heard a few murmurs in the group (how old is he?, etc) along with some not so happy hater-esque looks glaring back at me.

I get it, but not every kid is the same. I paid for that bike with my own cash, and 15 years and 100,000km later I’m still riding that bike - so not every 20-ish year old on a litre bike is destined for carnage. Although yes, the stats prove it is far more likely.

Unbelievable. It’s still spring and we may be off to the worst demo riding year yet. Way to make a point to the insurance industry guys... LOL.

True. Not every kid is the same. Well given what happened yesterday ... older, experienced riders crashing demo bikes, I don't know what to say. Sadly it may be the end of demo rides, and who knows other dealers may follow suit.

Attended the Acton Royal Enfield Demo Ride. Had fun.
This event was busy with lots of riders showing up.
Event was very well organized, nice 5 km or so ride and they even provided helmets and jackets for a few of those riders who didnt bring.
I rode the Interceptor 650 - Triumph Bonneville clone. Engine has a lot of character. Going only at 50 kmph and it was feeling much faster and had a huge smile on my face! They had also arranged a small of-road course for the Himalayan.
Overall, kudos to the staff of Royal Enfield for providing us a nice experience.

Hope they're back next year. I missed it
