So I've been kicking around GTAM for quite a few years, and a few long-time members have seen my kid grow from a tiny rider to 125gp and 250gp championships, as well as Redbull Rookies Cup and ultimately retiring. We had about 9 race bikes at one point and now, theres only two Ducati's left in the garage. As I suffer from "old guy's back" its time to sell the 749.
You may know a bit about Ducati’s and perhaps even the 749. This one, aside from being treated like the favorite child, can honestly brag to the fact that it has never been down- EVER. To say its condition is ‘mint’ is not an overstatement. It looks as if it arrived from the dealer last week. It was purchased from BCM Ducati in New Hampshire in 2004. BCM owner Bruce Meyers, (he of famed World Superbike Ducati and Builder of Troy Bayliss’ championship winning 999) personally set up the bike. As it happens, a deal was struck as part of the purchase wherein the original aluminum rims were swapped out for the 10 spoke forged magnesium Marchecini rims, previously adorning Troy Bayliss’ superbike. The stock 50mm exhaust system has been replaced with a Ducati Corse full 54mm exhaust system and a Power Commander 3 with custom fuel mapping. The mapping was done by Zaid Salemi of Z1 Cycletech. Other tastefull mod’s (that I can remember…) include; lightened flywheel, carbon fiber intake ducts and exhaust cover, BCM billet vented clutch basket, DZUS ¼ turn fasteners for quick fairing removal, a custom black swede saddle from IM Leathers, and a vanity plate with the sole purpose of antagonizing the police- DUK U.
The bike has all the appropriate documentation, as well as the original dealer key card, two original black ignition keys and the factory red Code key. The tires- Michelin Pilot Power’s have not seen much use, and the bike will be sold with its dust cover and paddock stand.
