Hello,

Just got my helmet stolen and need one for the ride home. Anyone knows a place close to the dufferin mall where I can get an helmet? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks.

Yeah, I hope so. Checking other options in the meantime.

Worst comes to worst, there is always CAA Plus if you have it, or Motolimo. Although I never leave my helmet anywhere (always take it with me), having a 'spare' will be nice when I replace mine due to age in another year, as it could still work for emergencies like the one you are in.

Thanks for your advice. I'm going to call one of them as time is not running to my favor and I'm not feeling comfortable to leave it out of sight on a public place for too long.

Even Canadian Tire does, but I figured you might try the Dufferin Mall WM. Oh well. Moto Limo are good peeps, s'good to give them some business.

How did that happen? You just leave it on the mirrors? Only time I leave my gear nonchalantly is at bike meets, most of the time there's a friend to tend our things or it's not too far out of sight.

But if I have to actually leave the proximity of my bike and go inside a building for a long period of time, the gear usually comes with me (Helmet bag for storage instead of carrying it in your hands).

Sucks that it happened. Guess people are desperate to steal anything these days.

Sorry for the delay replying, just got some moment now to do so.

I left it on the hook on the back of the bike and went inside but ended up spending more time then expected. I never had that problem before and saw few fellow bikers doing the same so I thought it was ok. Recently I went to the movies and saw a few guys holding to their helmets inside and thought to myself: maybe I should start doing the same but I guess I was too late on my decision.

I'm going to hold on to this one and never get it out of sight unless like you said, if I'm with friends or at bike meets.

Being towed + a brand new helmet = An expensive lesson learned :-S

I use a cable lock through the main opening of the helmet and also through the jacket sleeve or pant leg if I am leaving gear. Still not impossible to steal, but at least you need bolt cutters.

What a ****ing douchey move. I hope karma finds the thief quickly.

watch kijiji and other places like that for a few days, see if it pops up for sale,,,,,might be hard to prove it's actually yours, but you never know....

Just curious,,,,,would bike insurance cover this or home insurance possibly.....

depending on the cost of the helmet, say a thousand dollar lid, and you have a 500 deductible, it would be worth using insurance for this ?????

Doubt it would be worth it, insurance would jack up your rate because you made a claim.

If my helmet was stolen and I found it on kijiji for sale, I do not think I would trust it anymore, I doubt thieves would take care of my helmet like I do.

not sure why insurance would get jacked up, for a claim of theft, trust me if my thousand dollar helmet got pinched, I would be in contact with the Insurance company, just because one makes a claim does not mean ones rates go up.....

our car got keyed, made a claim got it fixed paid by insurance, rates did not go up, actually went down this year....

my bike was hit, guy reversed into me, I made a claim, was paid out by my insurance company, again rates did not go up, actually went down, but I changed bikes, so I am paying more, but that's due to the bike, if I kept insurance on the other bike, I would have been paying less for it this year, than the previous year.

for an inexpesive helmet it's probably not worth it, but a high end one.....it's something to think about.... ????

If you were honest and said you left your helmet with your bike and walked away when it was stolen, I could see insurance seeing that as negligence and an actuary calculating some increased odds of you doing something else similarly care less that would lead to a future theft claim and justification to raise your rate. But I'm no insurance provider. Perhaps someone in the business can chime in.
