No claims ever. GM license. 13 years licensed for motorcycle.

Last year my insurance was around $1000. The renewal just came in today, $6,155

It's time to shop around.

Are there any brokers reading this that want some business?

Dafuq.... Lol.

Try allstate if you feel like moving something over with the bike, you'd probably get a decent rate there. Or just call Paul South.

I guess that's why mine went down so much with them.

...did you run someone over last season? That's an insane increase.

I dropped Intact last year when they wanted an additional $200 a year from $3,400 to $3,600. After calling a number of places my best quote was from Ronn at Dalton Tim's insurance... at $1,000 less than Intact.

There has to be some material change to justify that much of an increase.

I'm pretty sure there are some caps/limits to increases but not sure if they apply for motorcycles or not?

This is something to be worried about guys, first State Farm (Desjardin) and now Intact?

I'm pretty sure all of these legally authorized usurers will start jacking up our rates and make it impossible to shop around for the best deal.

Hang on - I thought that kind of rate increase was literally not allowed. A 500% increase for one vehicle?

Did you look carefully over your renewal to make sure that their profile of you hasn't magically grown a DUI or vehicular manslaughter or something?

Its the only legal way they can say 'We don't want your business'

My guess. That, and it's a Blackbird - had blacklist issues in the past, Intact wanting out of the SS market as well, particularly the blacklist market perhaps?

I've been insured with this company since I got the blackbird in 2013. The whole reason I got it was because they didn't have a surcharge for bikes 16+ years or older and if the rider was 30+years old, so I bought the bike just after I turned 30. Even if the surcharge was reapplied, the renewal should only be around $2000, not $6000

Maybe someone that works there was the star of one of the bad driver videos you posted??
Seriously though, that's effing disgusting. Try Dejardins (not SF) or DT. I hope you find an acceptable rate. Unfreakingreal. Smh

I've already received quotes in the $1600-$1700 range, but that's still around a $500-$600 increase from last year.

I guess this will be their way or sayin' find another insurance 'cause we ain't touching SS no more.

I'm just tossing jello at the wall, basically. ;)

Have you called them yet and asked for an explanation? That'd be where I'd start. Who knows, maybe something is on your driving record that shouldn't be there? I speak from experience on that front, when I went to insure my VTX in the fall after returning to riding I found out there was an at-fault on my record that most certainly did not belong there from an incident nearly 5 years previous. My car insurer had never held it against me (long story short, it made no sense to them the way it was on my record, so they paid no attention to it, hence why I never noticed any policy increase that would have brought it to my attention) but when I told my new MC insurer that I had a clean record, they pulled it, and....surprise! Needless to say, with an at-fault my MC quote was signifigantly (like 4x) higher than what it ended up being.

It took me a while to clear that up.

So, like I said, just throwing **** at the wall here.

I've never been convicted of anything, aside from parking tickets.

I will be calling in the morning to entertain the lies they'll be spewing at me, and then calling around to find another company.
