Const. James Forcillo shot Sammy Yatim - the trial

^

FTP

There was Const. Robert Furyk, who testified seeing Yatim trying to get back up after the first volley — which had severed his spine. But Furyk arrived on scene at 12:01:10

If you don't think 9 shots into somebody could kill them....maybe you shouldn't be a cop.
Never mind kill him, one of the first shots was enough to knock him down. At that point, the perp is well subdued even if he had been a real threat to begin with.

Agreed. The 9 shots not killing was part of the defense argument. :lmao:

I'm surprised his lawyer didn't try to claim it was the taser that killed him.

I don't understand how you can clearly lie on the stand and get away with it. I mean this is provable. Its bad enough that the other officers are saying different things then their incident notes at the time of the event but this clown told a clear outright lie to the courts.

The nerve these guys have to go on the stand when there is a video and lie under oath. Frightening to think of the lies they get away with when there is no video. I really hope this guy gets charged.

Does that not effectively end his career in the police? Any defence lawyer worth his salt is going to call into question any testimony he gives under oath going forward.

Think about it....the crown has to work with the cops all the time on other cases. If they pursue charges against cops for lying under oath, it will put many other cases under scrutiny
It would only undermine cases in which that specific cop was involved, as it rightfully should because he's a lying sack of ****.

The Sargent who tazered him is also a piece of work

"Crown attorney Ian Bulmer questioned the officer’s account in a combative cross-examination and suggested Mr. Yatim was not attacking but in the process of dying.

“You work in a courtroom. I work in the streets,” Sgt. Pravica replied. “How could I know he was dying? He wasn’t saying he was dying.”

The use of lethal force, such as a handgun, is not always a guarantee of stopping an individual, the officer added. “Sometimes, people keep going and going. Sometimes even after they are clinically dead,” Sgt. Pravica testified"

They should definitely put all other cases under scrutiny.

Seriously??? There used to be a racist joke about burying a guy who insisted he was alive. The punch line was something like "but you know how much they lie"

I can't help but feel this is to divert the attention from whoever it was that hired Forcillo and how the system is out of touch with reality.

“How could I know he was dying? He wasn’t saying he was dying.”

Hmmm.... Therefore because he didn't inform Pravica that he was dying the the assumption was that he was in tip top shape?

“Sometimes, people keep going and going. Sometimes even after they are clinically dead”

So there are a lot of dead people that still keep walking around?

Do you know how stupid those comments sound

I see it every Sunday at 9pm

So exactly how many fatal shootings has this 1 Sargent been involved with so that he would have any such opinion?!?!

Sounds like this guy has been watching wayyyyy too many zombie shows. Dead bodies might twitch with muscle spasms, but won't be attacking.

"Sometimes, people keep going and going. Sometimes even after they are clinically dead. The only way to stop them is to put a steak through their hart" - daught

Or to leisurely walk away from them once they are approaching to eat your brains

T-bone? Porterhouse? Ribeye? Don't want to be getting all stabby on some dead person with the wrong steak.
