50+ Sport Bike Riders

So she's a bit cool this morning and it gets me thinking riding days will slowly start getting limited as winter approaches.

So when the 2015 riding season arrives I will be 50.

I wonder how many of you 50+ riders are still on SS bikes, some of you I'm sure are on ST's, you consider sport bikes. It better be a heavy on the Sport to consider (eg. VFR, Concours14, Trophy, etc). No highway pegs or sheepskin or *** beads.

Me, my ST is a 2010 1400GTR, I call it a 1400GTR because guys on the. Concours14 sites keep adding highway pegs, seat covers and raising the handle bars, car tires, etc. The Euro guys don't. My second bike is a 1997 ZX7R, I street ride it and now I'm tracking it as well.

One last thing, the SS needs to be insured and ridden, not in storage.

P.S. I'd have a ZX14 if I could afford a 3rd bike and the wife didn't like to travel by bike, and need luggage.

Just turned 57 and you can see what I am riding and have ridden below...not quite SS but not bad for my age!

I'm a year away. I'm low on bikes at the moment. I ride a 09 gsxr750, 10 gsxr 6 street and track. And a 96 600 ninja c9 model street only. Looking for a new dirty bike to keep me in half decent shape.

I'm 50 next spring as well, and a busa isn't exactly a SS, it is according to the insurance folks, so it kinda is. Mines only stored when there is snow on the ground, my typical riding season is from March to December, but have been out the odd January or February day.

Another chest beating opportunity. While I consider my bike a standard the insurance company doesn't plus I put on low bars, single seat and life saver pipe. So SS it is @ 55.

Inreb, you're 55?

wtf?!

Hayabusa. I argued a little, but Allstate said it's a SS.
Next May, 60.
Someone should start a 60+ SS rider thread

I'm 57 this year and started riding my SS bike when I was 50. Have been on road bikes of and on over my lifetime and was doing some dirt riding before I went back to the street. I've been doing track for about 5-6 years now too. My rides have been an 04 and now an 05 gsxr 1000. I enjoy every minute of riding these bikes and working on them too. Each year I get a little quicker at the track but I don't have the experience of some ppl who have ridden all their lives. Doesn't matter though. I'm havin fun. I just ride within my limits. Cheers.

52 and riding a Triumph Daytona. Used to commute to work on it until I started working from home. Put 5-7K per year on it.

All these self-identified 50+ ppl on SS bikes are the guys you seen doing wheelies on the 401 or whizzing past you going 200+ kph; splitting lanes etc... Their lives didn't turn out as hoped, and it gives them just a bit of excitement back in their lives... until they crash... as per the statistics. :p :bom:

I'm glad to see all you mature (lol) sportbike riders. Still feel 20 when I let her run free.

I have a buddy in Florida he'd be 70 now, his bikes ZX9R, Z1000, ZZR1200 and a Concours. The ZX9R is his most ridden bike.

Some of us will never grow old.

Same here almost 55 years young and still going on sport bikes, to be honest i don't think i will ever ride a patetopateto...cruser bike..ahaha

I thought you were 70?

I have to wait another three years before I can post in this thread. *sniff sniff* :p

Thats your math not mine. Sorry about the hijack everybody. This guy's a royal pain in the arse. Get off the lawn.

I'm soon to be 43 and my "sport" bike is also a 2010 Concours-14...with a few hotrod mods to bring out it's true big-block self;)

I just finished wrecking a '98 ZX7R at the track less than a month ago. I've decided to replace it with a Kawi Versys 1000.

However, I'm still just a pup at 42...lol. My SS days are over unfortunately.
