There are some pretty fast folks here.......some within a couple/few seconds of the lap record at some tracks. Since the 848 is slower than the best 600's, and 600's are a couple of seconds slower than a 1000 at tracks like Mosport some folks (on 1000's) wouldn't be too much slower than Hayden on the 848.....couple seconds maybe.
You get my point though eh?
I realize some guys here ARE fast, but many think that their bike will whip anything simply because the magazine says so.
I hear guys bickering over a few hp when it doesn't make a difference at all unless both are pros.
Hell, you could have a dirty air cleaner or little bad gas and be losing that bit of extra hp.
The other guy could have a GoFast Sticker and then you're done!

Even if Hayden has a good bike he's not winning GP, In 2006 he had 2 victories the whole season but somehow managed to get a championship with people crashing out and handing him the victory, Rossi had 5 wins that season and I think 3 maybe 4 had more wins as well.

Now I agree with you guys that car looked nothinglike 710 RWHP...but

ZX10R:

Power to weight
170RWHP/450lbs= .377

Vette:
710RWHP/3500lbs= .203

So it makes at least a little bit of sense why the car got spanked...Anyone feel free to correct me on why I am wrong if that is the case.

EDIT:

Sorry forgot rider weight. Lets assume 200lbs each.

ZX10R:
170/650= .261

Vette
710/3700= .192

still a pretty significant difference.

Yeah there is no way that vette is gonna come close to any liter let alone the monster that is the 04-05 ZX-10. It takes a very very special car to pull a liter.

Based on what? Looks to me like they were doing ~60mph roll ons. In 2nd gear I'm only at about 7500rpm at 60mph. Rolling 60 to 120mph, the modern litre bikes are pretty much untouchable. I stated in another thread that a Vette would need almost 1000hp to match the hp/wt ratio of me and my '04. Like Moreno said, it takes a very special care to even run with a litre bike let alone spank one. Only after about 160mph would the Vette get the aerodynamic advantage and start closing.

Even in the 1/4, when i have to deal with keeping the front end down i can manage low to mid 10 second passes and i've only been a few times. Do you know what it takes to get a car on radial tires into the 10's? What then if it's on the highway and keeping the front end down is not nearly as hard?

Does the Linginfelter Vette LOOK like it has 650+hp? It LOOKS bone stock. Even a stock Z06 is over 500hp. With some bolt on power adders and a low psi supercharger kit, 700+hp out of a modern Vette is quite reasonable.

My comment was not based on its exterior looks. It was based on the rate from inside the car and how quickly it was pulling through each gear. I have many friends that own high powered LSX cars and they looked much faster than the one in that vid. But to your point, from a 60 mph roll-on, you are right... most cars up to 700ish hp will get yanked by a litre bike. However, if that car was truly 700 rwhp, I dont think it would have been left behind like that.

However, had they started at a higher spd or continued on, the tide would have turned. On the highway, it becomes less about power:weight and more about aero and HP. While my R1 isnt as fast as a zx10, it is comparable, esp with my weight (140 lbs). At a higher speed roll on, I start getting pulled by 700 rwhp cars at around 230-240. I have a friend with a TT 427ci C5 (1000 rwhp on pump, traps 160 mph in the 1/4) that will strip the paint off my bike from anywhere. There are more than a couple of similar cars around T.O.
