Time for a new bike, and I'm thinkin sumo. I am pretty picky though, considering the following, and am wondering if its possible for me to find it all in ONE bike...
I want something fun as hell in the corners. I want something quick. I need something that can maintain 140-150 without grenading. I want something I can slap dirt wheels on and go muddin. I want more than 100km range. I'd like to stay under $5k or so. Yaya I'd love to stretch and get my hands on the Duc or Aprilia but beign realistic thats not gonna happen. |

New bike? Didn't you just get a R1?
Must be nice to have all the $$$ burning a hole in the pocket. The Ape 550 sounds like what your looking for. But there have been reliability issues with early bikes. |

For all that, I'm thinkin you need to spend more $$. BMW HP2 would be right up your alley.

![]() motors grenading at 5k is more than a reliability issue I'm not going to go this route no matter how sexy the bike is. |

the aprilia will survive IF you maintain it.
if you listen to most of the people around here thaat say you don't need to bother checking clearances etc on these bikes, you'll be one of the suckers with a really cool downhill mountainbike chassis in your garage. if you maintain it, you won't have problems. I can show you the documented longevity that I've got from my equipment and the maintenance is the reason it lasts

I've always wanted a Ape 550 but the horror stories scared me off. Good luck with your hunt. The new Husky 630 looks interesting. I've seen a few Husaberg's pop up for sale once in a while. Might be worth it to look into a Husa. |

how much power can you realistically get out of a drz400sm motor? looking at these as options rode one they are fun as hell, a bit cheaper than what I was looking at, just felt a bit down on power could've used another 10-15hp
