This is an expensive one to fix. Engine has to come out and the bottom end has to come at least partially apart. I don't know if you can get to all of the con-rod bolts on that engine through the oil pan - on most four-cylinder bike engines, you can't, which means you have to split the crankcases. Ouch.
Wow.
When they first announced this bike I thought,
Sure they can make 190 HP at whatever, 14,000 RPM...
But they have to Warranty them!
And then hand the keys over to knuckleheads, heheh - so we'll see how things work out (in a few years).
But very tough to make that bike reliable for the long haul....
A big challenge.
I don't think BMW has any problem making motorcycles reliable. They ave been over engineering bikes for decades and they make sure they run at about 50% of the failure point. Why would you say they have a reliability problem, I have not heard of any problems with them?
