I'm not sure if Vipers ever came with ABS. I know Dodge never liked to make compromises with that car. Never available in any form of automatic. The earlier versions of the Viper had no A/C, no power windows, etc.

But yah... that turd should not never have been allowed to drive that car

Naw, the idiot part was weaving around truck traffic. He just compounded it with the acceleration capabilities of that car.

I'm sure the driver's not a teenager - It's a low-probability situation. Even so, getting behind the wheel of a car like a Viper tends to make you think differently about your own driving abilities, and sometimes the reality doesn't match the imagination. Unfortunate, but maybe after this guy gets the car back from a VERY expensive body shop he'll realize that and be more careful with his ride.

On a side note, I chuckled heartily at the fact that when the guy crashed, the impact was barely felt by the van, but annihilated the Viper.

vipers were known for having ****** breaks....i mean, the first gen viper was cobbled together from the Dodge parts bin. hence the V10 = from a truck with revised heads and cam for more top end hp and less bottom end torque.

none the less when the testing were done, Viper did piss poor in the breakind department.

oh and locking up the breaks didnt help.

If I remember correctly they have also been known for ****** handling. They are (used to be?) generally ****** cars, except for the straight line acceleration.
