I live in Scarborough, so it's not pleasant on insurance, never has been.

Car is around $1900 full coverage. 20+ years driving with insurance.
I had one at fault 12 years ago. Some insurance still look back this far (Looking at you CAA, ya no joke)
    Otherwise a perfect clean record.

Bike is around $1850 just liability
Just started riding in Aug 2017 with a HD tourer.

House on top of all this.

I could bundle I guess, but when I look at the rates or possible rates it really is not much difference.
Screwed any which way. I've tried just either crickets or told that is just the rate(s).

Wow! I thought I was getting screwed over paying over 2k a year for car insurance. I don't have as much driving experience as either of you. GTA sucks!

I'd be interested to see why your home insurance rate sky rocketed so high vs last year. I agree that doesn't make sense. I'd like to take a look for you to make sure everything is correct on the policy. When you have some time give me a call at 289-460-4276.

In terms of bike rates, Allstate is staying pretty even keel in 2019 vs previous years in the sport bike department which is good for the overall riding community. We've adjusted our age qualification slightly for sport bikes and our rates have adjusted a bit but nothing crazy. I know certain insurers this year are kicking out riders with less than 6 years riding experience based on the calls I've been getting so far. It's still early and many of you haven't gotten your renewals yet but Allstate may be a decent option to try this year for those in need. This forum is a great resource with a lot of insurance specialists representing various companies. I suggest you all scour through the insurance specialist section and try us all out to see which one offers your specific situation the best price. I can be found on there and welcome all interested parties to reach out for a quote.

    Cheers,
    Matt
Thanks for the update. I'm with Allstate and wasn't happy when they raised my bike rates 20% last year with no changes to my policy (about $400 for both bikes). House insurance (which renews a month earlier) also was up last year about $100. I called in and they ended up giving me a $200 credit to my house policy which was good, but still a ways off from rate a year prior. With 2 bikes, 2 cars and house insurance I'm in the $5000k range for the year so if rates are going up again this year I'll be shopping around.

How does it work at Allstate with reps? I used to have a dedicated agent (Grant Redfern) who was excellent. He's since left and I have no dedicated agent, I speak to a different person everytime I call in which hasn't been a great experience.

Try Jeff Lynn or Matthew Camacho for Allstate. Jeff is fantastic and very responsive. I'm sure Matthew is too.

Thank you, but not sure how it works with regional locations. My current agency location is in Etobicoke (because Grant was there) even though I'm north of Newmarket. Based on the 519 area code, that would be a good ways from where I'm at.

Don't think that matters. I'm also in Newmarket, but had Jeff setup all my policies for me.

So I just pulled all the paperwork and checked the actual numbers, just over $3700 total. Not $3000, but decent enough for the things I'm covering.

I guess living in the stix has some benefits.
Well, KW is hardly the stix...
But I guess it's cheaper than the GTA, but then you have to consider the transportation costs (fuel, extra time etc) to equalize it.

2018 increase was 13.6% 2019 increase is 14.5% 2 year increase 30% Liability only, perfect driving record, no claims, full M 16 years. With Desjardins for years. They did send a nice cover letter with my annual increase stating we all must pay for the bad drivers. So suck it up I guess, lol.

    You are their dream customer.

You have had back to back years of near 15% increases each year without shopping around/switching and have the mentality that you should 'suck it up'. Guess what you're getting next year? Tell him what he's won Bob! That's right, a one way trip to another 15% or greater increase!

I got my renewal from TD recently. $2296 for the 2 bikes. Shadow dropped to $962 for full coverage, down from around $1400. This will be my first full season with the R6, it's at $1334 with everything except collision. Pretty acceptable to me, I forget what they charge me for my truck, TD does a completely separate policy for bikes.

First one to report a drop in motorcycle insurance. That's a great rate you're paying for the R6. Do you have comprehensive coverage as well? Didn't know TD does comprehensive without collision. I might go down this route myself.

Edit1: looks like TD does do comprehensive without collision, but in my case it only made a difference of about $100 a year. Not worth it.

Edit2: TD's online calculator is messed up. I'm getting vastly different numbers (worse) a week later for the same inputs.

I don't even find online calculators as a good baseline, you call in and half the time it's way off or they don't even insure that vehicle.

That's true. But last week I ran quotes online with TD, called in and quotes matched. This week they changed. I'm just going to call in closer to my renewal date now which is more than 45 days away still.
