Just saw this. Couldn't believe it. Creator of so many comic book titles I grew up on. RIP Stan Lee. Thank you for what you created.

For me it was Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko that put Marvel on the map.

The writing was bad enough that they had to create a multiverse to account for all of the inconsistencies.

You'll notice all kinds of posts/items that the creator of Spiderman has died, but Steve Ditko died months ago.

Well he wasn't going to live forever. I was always intrigued not just by Stan's violent comics, the actual comic artwork and his talent for creating action in a drawing. His exaggeration of detail. I remember reading them in the 1960s, 20 cents I think at the penny candy store. Stan Lee was 95. He lived a great life.

He was a writer/publisher not an artist, so that talent wasn't his. I started reading comics when they were a dime, but the quality deteriorated over time, and the stories became confusing and illogical even for comics.

Apparently, they've made a whole wack of cameos in advance, so his screen version will probably outlast you.

My first dog I named Stanlee.

Agreed with the cameos, he will show up for awhile. Too easy not to inject him and we will love it

You're right about the art. My memory is foggy, I may even have paid 10c back then but I can't remember circa 1968-69. Later I remember seeing that vid "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" and started doing it for awhile. It was narrated by Stand Lee. Quite interesting.

In a strange way, I think the old 1967 Krantz Animation Spider Man cartoons actually immortalized the hero and was great advertising for Marvel. Quite interesting the way the series was done. Bad guys all had strange English/Canadian accents, done by a studio in Montreal. Music was priceless.

Wow, I loved that as a kid! Also Hercules.
Cheesy animation but true Canadian culture.

    My TV cartoons:

Spiderman wasn't until much, much later.

I started to lose faith in Marvel after they began doing arbitrary things like this:

    became

With all of the variations of timelines and universes now, you need an encyclopedia to keep track of who is who, and when, which Marvel will happily provide . . . for a price.
I felt is was just laziness on the writers/editors' parts, and if you think Ghost Rider is messed up, you should see the crazy ways the X-Men were flipped hither and thither.
