Fitting 2003 sportster seat to 2004 sportster

Has anyone done this? There is a seat that I like to buy and put on my bike. Based on the research I did 2003 has the tongue on the frame and 04 on the seat...is that the only the difference?
 
Pretty significant difference and not that many Sportster riders on this forum. Have you tried xlforum?
 
Go on the HD website, check the accessories and compare seat part #'s for the different years. That will answer your question.
 
I am not a mechanic but I'm thinking tongue on frame (seat attaches to frame) and tongue on seat (frame attaches to seat) is a pretty major difference.
 
the sportster had a lot of changes for 04. Among them was a completely new frame with the engine rubber isolated to reduce vibes.
some heralded that as the best improvement ever for the sportster. an 03 seat may not be easy to fit.

the aftermarket probably have a host of different seats available for your 04. nice ride, wouldn't happen to be the roadster would it?

I've been looking at the sportsters the last few weeks...
