My grandfather spent most of WWII as a tailgunner and sometimes the belly gun on a B52. He definitely never forgot it.
Took me to a couple airshows in the US where he walked me through a bomber like his. Told me stories and was visibly moved, his memories haunting his face as we moved through the plane. I was in my teens and I still remember it like yesterday.

He is really fixated on aviation.Knows the difference between airplanes, jets and fighter jets.We have one kid who is 4 riding an Oset in his second season.Lots of kids in the early teens

Awesome. Checked out FiFi at Oshkosh quite a few years back, pretty cool piece of history. It flew out over our house a few weeks back when it was headed for Lindsay.

The budget to keep those flying museums in the air is staggering. We see the Lancaster out of Hamilton come down the lake every weekend, when they do a low pass it gets you wondering what 65 of those going over your house would sound like.

Why do you say 65? Some of the raids were in the hundreds.Must have been terrifying for those on the ground. The part that amazed me about the B29 was the gunners "computerized" sighting system.Semi conductors had not been invented and it was done with vacuum tube technology.https://www.popularmechanics.com/mi...r-were-a-mid-century-engineering-masterpiece/ All the gunner had to do was keep the target in the crosshairs and pull the trigger.Air speed, altitude, temperature etc etc all taken care of by the device.
