Interesting mid way point stop -Toronto -Harrisburg PA

I have a few days off starting tomorrow till Sunday, thinking of taking a small road trip on the bike alone from Toronto to Harrisburg PA, depending if my friend in Harrisburg is available.

I've done this run on a bike a few years back and also done one to NYC 2 years ago. Usually reach there with-in the day, but this time I'm thinking I may make a stop over somewhere for the night just for hell of it, gives my a longer leisurely ride.

I was looking at Google maps hoping I could ride close to the coast line and find a beach town but that would take me to far east of Harrisburg. Any interesting suggestions?

Bills fan?

Training camp is underway
Town of Pittsford, a bit south of Rochester
Could check that out for a bit then ride down and stay in the Finger Lakes Region NY

lots of beach towns with accommodations and restaurants there
it's a nice area and will leave you about 300km left to get to Harrisburg

219 is always the preferred route for easy riding - you could take a break at Coudersport or Renovo - having fun on 44/144

I'm usually in Coudersport just around noon leaving around 7 am ...you've got time to see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinzua_Bridge

I have a route I like that takes me through Letchworth State Park ....- I cross at Lewiston.

the food is just terrific. https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Rest...8-Reviews-Glen_Iris_Inn-Castile_New_York.html

then into Coudersport from the east ...I do that a bit by feel ..not sure I could plot it out but if you get to Letchworth then plot to Coudersport by the back roads you'll enjoy it.

I second this, I have a family cottage in the finger lakes region and it is just such a nice area to visit and spend some time in. Nice small towns dotted all over, lakes upon lakes upon lakes everywhere.. rolling hills and valleys.. It's really quite nice

Hi Macdoc,

Thanks for the route, looks really amazing, just connected with my friend in PA, he's going to be in for next few days, unfortunately I need to get to Harrisburg by end of day tomorrow due to rains through out PA on Friday so will have ride through, but perhaps on my way back I may route this way and check out the bridge and the Glen Iris Inn.

So now I need to hit Harrisburg by end of day tomorrow preferably by 6 pm, any nice routes stop for lunch ideas?

Thanks !

This place is not too far from the south end of 219. We stumbled on it by accident and have gone back since. Recommend!

I guess I will be making a stop there for lunch, here is the route I'm planning on, chime in anyone recommends something else or another better route. As mentioned I want to get the Harrisburg by 5-6 pm so planning on leaving around 7-8 am from Toronto, unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Here is the route: https://goo.gl/maps/3JdAkjwTEp92

The Black Forest Inn in Lock Haven, PA. It's on PA-44, which is an incredible road from just southeast of Coudersport down to Jersey Shore, PA. Good restaurant, good bar (indoor and out), and good lodging. And if you havent done PA-44 before, it's an absolute must. Once you get there, you'll have plenty of time that same day to do the Renovo loop as well.

The route I'd suggest is cross at the Peace Bridge, run highways to get out of urban society, and take Rte. 16 down into Olean, then head east on 417, and then ultimately pick up 44. https://goo.gl/maps/TKuWxjmFvU72

Just noticed that you have to head straight through. Still a great spot to stop for lunch, and a great route to take! https://goo.gl/maps/M49qzYWJcKU2
