About third hand but a lawyer in the personal injury business commented that insurance companies are buying the personal injury firms.

So who are you going to call to fight a rip off insurer?

Perfect setup to monopolize the entire industry <- the money collection and dispersion industry.

Exactly. The company you hire to sue the insurer is owned by the insurer. Conflict of interest?

They probably buy a few each. An insurer wouldn't get sued by their own lawyers, but by those owned by the competitors. Depending on the relationship between the insurers, the lawyers either go for blood or take it easy.

The whole mess seems like something that shouldn't be allowed to happen.

sounds about right for the crooked On insurance industry
obvious conflict of interest

but not easy for the average Joe to uncover
ins Co's will setup the law firm under an Ont. Ltd. numbered company
and claim arms length control....but we know that's BS

My personal injury lawyer, said as a result of changes to the mediation process, he is now getting 2 - 3 resumes per week, from lawyers who represented the insurers.

Used to be if the client lawyer won, the law firm could recover some of the costs for mediation, (about $10 - 15,000 for a full day of mediation). Now under new rules they can't recover a single penny, therefore, VERY VERY few mediation are filed, therefore, lawyers representing the insurers, have NO work.
