American boycott

He would win again with ease. You must know the popular vote is irrelevant. No way I would see the electoral vote changing in any meaningful way. Regardless of your personal opinions of Trump he would have a lot to crow about in an election campaign. The dems are in a complete state of disarray. They have no platform other then vote for us cause Trump sucks. This will not win. They have no leader that can in any meaningful way combat Trump. As much as others like to think Sanders would win, I really don't believe Americans would vote for a complete left wing socialist. The only way Trump does not get a second term is if the economy tanks.

Trump won by carrying 4 big swing states
by very narrow margins
every poll in the 2016 run-up had Clinton taking most of them
but they were wrong, and Clinton ran an awful campaign

Sanders could not win in 2020
but very likely would have won in 2016
he was enormously popular with the party grass roots
would have moved to the center after winning the nomination
and destroyed Trump in the debates

but more importantly
would have motivated Dem voters to get off the couch
no way Trump carries all them swing states with a motivated Dem electorate

but that is history, can't get it back
and I agree there is no good candidate now
or a good platform

I lived there half my adult life. I still keep my second home there.

I personally have found little difference between living there and living here. The communities I have lived in the USA (Dallas, Los Angeles, Ventura and Fort Myers) all have communities that are as comfortable as the one I call home now, Markham.

I'm not going to rebel against a whole lot of nice people I know just because their president is an odd duck.

Saunders will be too old in 2020 - so yes to that. Not sure I agree he could have won 2016, while he had a lot of support, that was a youthful crowd of progressive idealists, I don't think establishment Dems were interested in his Koolaid. Had he won the Dem nomination, I think a lot of undecided and moderate Dems would have found him way to far left. Trump would have had a larger majority if he faced off against Saunders.

You can't get history back, but you also can't judge a sitting leader until his term has come to an end. Most politicians will tackle the rough stuff in the first half of their term so they can have time to recover and hand out goodies as they roll up to the next election.

That said, I think Trump will be different. He got his prize, methinks he doesn't give a hoot about the next term, he'll use that to further his personal empire.
