Make sure the flasher is for a bike -- the LED flashers for cars have a low current circuit that 'hyperflashes' to let the driver know a flasher is out - these do not work on bikes.
The easier option is to put a load resistor in each circuit (8ohm, 25w). These plug in between the existing harness and new LED signal, one for left one for right. Cost about $10 bucks for a pair.
