Sturgis 2018 who wants to go?

I would imagine. I never been to the dragon. Is there lots of Harley riders there? I would have guessed more sports or sports touring

When I was at down at the Dragon a few years ago there was a ton of cruisers. I was behind to custom choppers that scrapped and sparked with even the slightest curve. It is certainly a road for sport bikes, not my cup of tea. Neat to do once, but preferred all there around the area to the Dragon itself.

You would probably love the “blackhills” the twisties within a 200 mike radius of sturgis

Thanks for reminder as I'll be passing near them in June and will "attend" ....will need a dose of twists after endless slab.

Looks like Day 4 for me if all goes well.

Anyone have suggestions for the area for scenic twists?

I know that if you contact the SD tourism group (don't remember the website) they will send you maps of the state with all of the great riding roads and routes highlighted as well as other travel info such as hotels, landmarks etc. They will send it all for free too. Should be a good resource for planning your rides when there.

I'd love to see SD but I have no interest in going at rally time. I'm guessing going after the rally you'd see a lot of blowing garbage and the like, at least for a few weeks until everything is cleaned up.

They actually have a map of the roads through the black hills based on skill level. You can ask them them for the map

A good loop with a ton of twisties is from sturgis to deadwood down to Mount Rushmore loop around rapid city and back up
