Question about gloves

So I've been riding in this weather, a bit cool but I am still having fun. Something dawned on me while riding today. I might need another pair of gloves for this kind of weather. It is not from my hands being cold, I have heated grips. It is more from the wind being blown up the sleeves of my jacket and thus making my body cool. I have a pair of alpine stars which tuck into my sleeves. But I have seen other styles (the Dark Vader looking ones with larger funnels) which I imagine would go over my sleeves? Possibly defecting the wind.

I dunno you all have different gloves, am I thinking about this correctly?

It would make a huge difference. For summer, I tuck short gloves under my jacket. For spring and fall, I wear Klim Quest long gloves over my jacket - they are pricey but excellent quality. I add a glove liner underneath the long gloves for winter rides. No heated grips and I'm comfortable up to -5 degrees.

Gauntlets are the gloves you're describing. What size glove do you take? I have an extra set of Joe Rocket GPX gauntlets in black with red in the knuckles I might part with. They're brand new. They're the best gloves Joe Rocket makes. I like them so much that I bought several pairs.

I would highly recommend them, you get a lot for your money.

What ever you get tho - make sure the inner waterproof liners are fixed into the fingers, not able to be pulled out,

Not sure if tis deal is still on

Ah yess. Gauntlets!

@MLadin my current gloves are XXL. I would need cruiser style for my needs. I might pop out for a run today so I may end up at GP etc. just to see. I remember seeing a bunch of these someplace.....

Thanks all!

I like the gauntlet style to keep bugs out of my sleeves. 100km junebug or bee up the sleeve is really no fun .

yup, gauntlet style water proof, for wet and cold days
GP has Tourmaster waterproof Dri-Mesh
enough gauntlet to go over the sleeves of your jacket

affordable, comfortable and truly 100% waterproof
I wear them all the time if temp is below 15

in the rain, hands stay completely dry
and after it stops, gloves are dry after about 30 minutes riding

These aren't waterproof gloves ... my hands got soaked while riding on a rain. I have to admit it was a two hour downpour on a highway but still, gloves were holding on for about 15-20 minutes.

I have these gloves and do not recommend them. They have the inner later that separate which make it really hard to put your hand back in after you take the glove off. I think it is because it is not breathable that makes the inside wet and not because it is not waterproof.

Holy $hite...Someone was just telling be about this, but with bee's flying up there. I thought he was joking and found it to be an unusual condition to be aware of.

Second that for Klim Long Quest gloves. The most expensive gear is the cheap stuff that you don't use. Purchase once.

Well I went around today and tried some gloves on.

Royal - had nothing that worked. Stock is coming in. (they say that alot I find)
GP - had a house brand that seemed ok, wasn't to happy with them.
Also had a Klim pair which worked... but well that price didn't
Re-Gear had a pair but was the first pair I tried on so, might go back again later.

I might just hold off. I am purchasing a leather jacket soon, which should have a more tapered sleeve. Whereas my current textile jacket doesn't.

Heck maybe the weather will actually just get warmer!!

going on 4th season on these gloves
without ever getting internally wet
including some very nasty, long and wet days

weird, have never had an issue with that
but never wear them in sunny weather

maybe there's a QC issue
or perhaps some anecdotal experience from all

Sorry I made a mistake about the inner liner separating because it does not. It is just loose in there and difficult to put back on after having it on for a while. It does seem waterproof to me as well.

Worn mostly gauntlet gloves my whole riding life. The shorties get less use, mostly in only the very hottest days. Have vented gauntlets for the warm days and supposedly waterproof(maybe when they were brand new) gauntlets for the cooler weather(they help in the cold cause they are lined and more windproof).

I recently bought the GP ‘house brand’ gauntlets for cold-wet riding. Haven’t had a chance to try them yet.

Ha, I tried those on today.
Something about the gauntlet part over the sleeve and the way it bunched up didn't sit with me. But probably will do the job.
I am sure I saw pile similar to these at Herberts, but that is a hike.

I'm not sure but it could be a QC issue ... gloves were great on those cooler days around 2-5C. After the rain fiasco I've got Alpinestars Oslo (https://fortnine.ca/en/alpinestars-oslo-drystar-gloves) and I can't be happier.
