...are being asked to stay away from terms like Mr., Mrs., father and mother

Can we hurry up and colonize the moon and other planets so I can escape the ridiculous nonsense on this one...

no need to leave the planet
just move to a red state

Canada is a liberal democracy
it'll only get worse for the intolerant

All the snow flakes will be melting!:lmao:
They hate being called that. Same as fake news. Cnn goes coo coo when called that

Who the **** cares? If it makes someone more comfortable, is it really a big deal to make minor changes?
You should care, you'll have to change your forum name.

JT is such a flake and so are the people defending him . Can`t wait for the election . The commercials will be priceless . The material he has provided is almost unlimited .

I actually agree with this move. The reason? I am tired of people having no idea which is my first name and which is my last name (even when the form that I filled out has a separate place for each!) It annoys me to no end to be called Mr. 'first name'

******* is gender neutral. I think I will call everyone that.

Snow flakes that get offended that it makes sense to use gender neutral terms as those don’t actually offend anyone you mean?

I use gender neutral terms all the time as frankly, occasionally it’s hard to tell, and it’s no skin off my nose.

People are being offended by being referred to as "a parent" rather than "mother"?

People need to grow a spine. This is primarily meant to have people not have to have a weird conversation about how they have two moms/dads or some sort of transgender parent. It's both easier and less time consuming.
This is not an issue as to whether parent or mother is offensive, it's about a government authoritarianism creeping in -- the so called slippery slope of socialism.

We are a free nation, free to think, free to speak, free to reason -- we don't need government to reorganize and legislate the salutations we use to communicate with one another.

Canada is one of the few places sliding from liberal democracy to social democracy. If history is a good indicator of what happens when socialism takes hold, we're heading for some rough seas. Look through Europe, things get downright nasty when you go too far - Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland hit socialism's financial brink.

Canadians always pull back before it's roots too deeply, that's happening now in Ontario. It may happen at the federal level next election.

yes, those are some examples of poorly managed economies

but I was referring more to social policy MM
doesn't cost one cent to evolve federal government to more suit the populace

what has become of the Canadian Conservatives who live in an echo chamber
feel they have Liberals ramming social policy down their throats
but the facts are the majority of Canadians are supportive of inclusiveness

why do you guys think the Harper Gov got tossed ?
they were good stewards of the economy
foreign policy was mostly inline with what Canadians want
they produced stable, responsible government

so why did they get destroyed by a lefty party with a school teacher for a leader?

Bottom line for me is this. I respect others rights choices, likes and dislikes and i would accommodate to make them happy. But not when it comes at the cost of my right. That's not progress, that's just reverse discrimination (traditionally speaking).

The key word being respect. I have a brother Christened "Robert". Some call him that, others call him Rob, Bob, Robbie. I can call him brother. He doesn't care as long as it is done with respect. Instead of nit picking to avoid dealing with real problems the politically correct deflect attention from their incompetence. Why isn't this energy being spent on teaching people to respect each other regardless of whether they are Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms?

Two dads? So what! Treat them all the same. Who cares if Joey's parents are Bill and Mary or Tom and Fred.

You mean like those intolerant of words like mother and father? Those who force their belief on others using state power? Isn't that how all dictatorships work? The man on top just forces his will on people and they better shut up and take it or else? So progressive!

And regarding your other comment:
"true
started in Athens around 2,500 years ago
has spread across the globe like a plague
just lately though
has been threatened by a regression to totalitarianism"

Seems like you missed a very massive point from a little known Greek philosopher called Plato and his views on democracy:

"Plato thought that any democracy would be overrun by the ‘tyranny of the majority’ (this is why modern democracies have constitutions). In contrast to this, he proposed a form of ‘enlightened’ despotism where people are put into ranked castes, with the ‘gold hearted’ being the ruling ‘philosopher kings’, the lesser castes doing ‘lesser’ work. In Plato’s republic, you may also only marry within your caste, incest is permissible as long as the people practising it will have desirable offspring (i.e. both are very good philosopher rulers) and other such things. Plato also believed that only enlightened philosophers will enter his idea of the eternal afterlife (the ‘World of the Forms’) while politicians are the lowest of the low, and seek to misguide the people."

the butthurt from MAGA snowflakes
when ranting about something that has had zero affect on them
is amusing
border creep on stupidity is unfortunately not a laughing matter though

Plato was a smart dude

and other smart dude said this:

‘Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…’
