Duke 390

My new 2017 Honda was made in Thailand. It is the best fit, finish and quality of any bike i have ever owned.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here, it's good quality but I could tell in 10 seconds that it wasn't as good as the Japanese made bikes in terms of fit and finish.

Dealer here has 2017 models on sale for 4799
and here the insurance would only be $500 / year.

Do you mind if i ask which dealer?

My full comprehensive insurance is under $400, one of the reasons I pick this over the 790.

The Husquvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen finally hit the market this year. I like the way they look. I expect that the 401s are very similar to the 390 Duke.

At $8000 they are 2K more than the the Duke, a little beyond my range

UHHMMmmmmmmmmm
Actually ASSEMBLED in Thailand, built with world parts.
As are Ducatis, Suzukis and Kawis.

Aren't SVs and Kawi ENs assembled in Korea?
... and there is a Ducati assembly plant in Brazil.

...anywhere but North America.

Also Triumphs, BMWs, and Harleys.

Harley?
AFIK Harleys are assembled in the land of the free and India. Harley begrudgingly built a plant in India so India would remove the tarriffs that made Harleys unavailable in India. Probably a good idea.

As an aside, back in the good ol days when Honda assembled Gold Wings in the US, there was more US content in the Gold Wing than in a Harley. YAH buy American!

My brother has 2015 model.

Its a fun little bike. Its a bit vibey but still fun.

Quality and fit and finish is a little eh though.

My bro found that the kickstand was dangling around loose once. Also lots of creaks and squicks around.

One thing that bugged the hell out of me was very tiny gap around the swingarm and the chain to do basic chain maintenance.

But a fun bike. More fun and hooligany than ninja 300 I had.

Thank you for the information - definitely looking for more of this

Truth is I haven't seen the bike in person yet but will definitely keep it in mind

I think they look like nice little bikes. Good power-to-weight ratio.

Expensive, but I'd hope they are worth it.

i'm definitely looking to get the svartpilen when they're available. its more costly but i cant stand the way the duke looks.

Went and sat on the 390

Very small seat for a bigger person

Plus the riding position forces you forward.. Sort of over the handlebars

The footpegs don't help the riding position either...quite a bit further back then expected

I ended up passing on the bike

If anyone is interested GP bikes has one for $5,250+HST

And you can finance it for 60 months at 0.99

That's just over a $100/month

Got an insurance quite and its quite cheap as well

Just wish the ergonomics fit me better

Try the BMW?

I was looking at the 310 adv

Looks like a decent bike

The price on the ktm was attractive

Anyone know if the RC390 will be updated for next year? Hoping they'll work out some of the known kinks and update the dash similarly to the Duke at the very least.

On a similar note, what were they thinking with the dash on the Vitpilen 701? Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Any particular reason for shopping for a 300-400cc bike ? You can find a like-new naked 650cc in the same price range, if not cheaper.

Excellent for commuting, close-to-upright riding position, and very comfortable. I used to ride for 4-5 hours straight without issues.

Here's one as an example. Good deal, IMO

The financing was appealing

Didn't have to pay a bit lump sump payment up front

Plus tires, brakes, chain would be brand new

Interest rate was very low

Seemed like an inexpensive bike to run

Either way I'm too big for it and looking for a 500-600cc bike for commuting now

Edited my previous post with a link. Perhaps, it may interest you.

Sturgess Cycles in Hamilton is selling the 2016 model of the same bike, brand new for $6500.
