Netflix has cut off all of the well known VPN's thus cutting off Canadians. Anyone have a workaround?

my VPN, Nord
is still working
sometimes have to try a few servers
but I've never had all of them blacklisted yet

that Kodi BS?
spend more time messin with it than anything else

if a guy wants to pirate
torrent is more reliable

If you want to pirate well, set something up with Sonarr/Couchpotato. Automatically downloads tv series/movies as soon as they're available in the quality you specify. You can do this on a home computer if you have one that's always on, or something like a Raspberry Pi makes an excellent little server.

Feed your downloads into Kodi or Plex and you're golden.

I bought a Pi for just that purpose, media server
found it to be terribly slow, max was 4 MBS
was usable with one client, any more and it choked
but still a really neat gadget for $50

ended up building a proper NAS that streams HD to 5 clients without issues
and I don't mind manually DL and library management
I run a simple samba share to the TV's PC's and phones

those HT apps are kinda neat, but they are resource hogs
and with a decent network running VLC on all the clients I don't need to transcode

Are you talking about using the Pi as a Plex server? Yeah, that's probably not the best idea.

I was thinking of using a Pi as just an automatic download server and then using something else to play the media.

Not that I do that. I use a Chromebox running linux, that acts as a downloader, Plex server, and Kodi player outputting to a tv. Also functioned as a makeshift NAS with an external hard drive before I got a dedicated one. Low power consumption, zero fan noise, and does near everything I can imagine.

yeah, don't think a Pi would run Plex
tried a few open source linux distros that are built to be media servers
they scanned the connected drive just fine and built a nice library
but as a networked server it was just awful

my NAS is etho'd to the router
don't even need a PC on to stream to TV's etc
good setup, but cost a bit more than the Pi :)

ya agree just torrent everything, using a vpn. I do this on my NAS which also is my media streamer to the TV. done.
I don't use plex but rather a simpler DLNA server.

I have Kodi and Amazon Prime. Gave up Netflix when they started banning VPNs.

Yeah prime has come a long way
and works well with my VPN
has the HBO back catalog
and lots of good TV content

movies are easier just to torrent
and collect, more control over quality than a streaming service

also find Netflix becoming less interesting
even with US content available
they do have some very good original programming to binge tho

Get a quality Android box with Kodi.

Install Exodus.

Subscribe to, and setup RealDebrid. THIS is the key to making Kodi awesome, but a lot of people overlook or don't understand it. It literally costs a buck or so a month, less when you subscribe for longer periods. Try the 30 day trial account for a few bucks if you want proof you WANT this.

Then load up Exodus and click on the streams in Blue.

You can thank me later. You'll cancel your Netflix subscription inside a week, I virtually guarantee it.

RealDebrid is the key to making Kodi glorious.

For exclusive content I use kodi. I used to torrent, but I have large external hard drives full of content that I don't watch.

Another way Prime is going to decimate Netflix, is the pricepoint and included features. It's $79 per year I believe, and with that you get free 2 day shipping and discounts on Amazon purchases. I actually signed up for the deals and then was pleasantly surprised when I realised that I could watch the grand tour lol.

Same here
bought a prime membership
for the 2 day shipping
was a no brainier
the video streaming was a pleasant surprise

Things have changed I guess since I had a box

Was a neat hobby but virtually useless for watching TV

Spent most of the time installing add on that would last a short time

And clicking on endless dead links

Found ituch easier to just search out what I wanted and DL it

Any advantage of the Android box over using a PC with Kodi installed?
