Just because it's the current law, doesn't make it right. Lots of "laws" have been dropped or changed that are wrong now. Multiple tax grabs on the same item just so the gov't can waste it is not "right". Just work within the boundaries where you can.
 
Pretty sure it was the law to tax certain immigrants when they attempted to come to Canada while ignoring the rest.

Law =/ right
