310RR... could this be BMW's entry into the quickly growing small displacement sportbike category??

Don't they already have a naked sport 310 out that has had less than stellar reviews for small bikes?

seems like it would be a smart move to get in on the new rider small displacement market. Only issue is they would be targeting the new rider, deeper pockets (I'll assume will cost more than the Japanese brands) which makes a small market smaller. Premium brand bike may carry an insurance premium as well.

yep, but those kids in south/south east asia wanna look fast while cranking out fewer HP

sure, why not?

already have the naked and ADV versions of the little Indian single
wrap it in fairings and give it some better brakes and suspension
people will pony up extra dough to have a BMW badge on it

interesting engine tech, reversed ie: CS rotation backwards
exhaust out the back and intake at the front

they are claiming ram-air action on the intake
if this is true, and intake pressure is above atmospheric when at high speed
would make for an interesting tuning challenge

road speed and engine speed input data would have to be in the mapping

Isn't the frame a bit different? Or maybe "Apache" just picked better colours. I think that thing without the fairing looks way cooler than the current BMW does

I think EFI bikes have handled this before. It's not hard to account for, it's like tuning for an extremely wimpy turbo

suppose you are likely right on this
could get the input from the speedo sensor
or an intake pressure sensor prolly work better

Motocrosser technology

yup, the reversed part
popular with the old 2 stroke street crowd too
especially RD350 enthusiasts

You would be surprised.

My FZ09 is just a few bucks less to insure then an MV Agusta Dragster RR, which are both cheaper than a Triumph Street Triple.

BMW decided against offering this model. The TVS is a putt-putt in the category, kinda like a GSX250, CBR300 - looks fast while parked.

BMW likes to punch at the top of each category, not the bottom -- the 310 models they released are doing that.
