My ex had a Samsung front load set. I replaced the locking mechanism twice on the washer. It won't run if the lock malfunctions, turned out the lock mechanisms were made with cheap plastic, and the solenoid inside them is strong and violent enough for the part to commit suicide. I forget how much the part was but it was north of $100 for sure.
