Any of the side roads that parallel the 219 after Springville NY are fun.

If you avoid Oleans by skirting it to the east, then aim for 44 and 144 into Renovo PA then head up and over the mountain to Snowflake (or similar) you will thank me.

Leave extra early as it will get cooler with the shorter hours of daylight in the mountains.

219 is fairly slow with the truck traffic and all the small towns it goes through.

Have fun! I wish I was going along with you.

Ugh... i guess they haven't built any new fun roads since 6yrs ago when i last rode that area! :)
OK, adjusted my route and the detour is only 100Kms, should make for a more interesting ride though..

lol. I got the impression you hadn't rode that way before, so I apologize.

Don't forget to stop for pictures and share!

They've repaved a few tho .... Cherry Springs off 6 to 144 is very sweet and finally repaved 144 out of Coudersport - was rough there for a while
have fun

Follow Shane's advice ,,,PA is always near.

Skyline Drive from Font Royal to Waynesboro (goes through Shenandoah National Park). The speed limit is on the slower side but it's a fantastic drive. Runs parallel to 81 through Virginia.

edit: I'd skip PA and do some nice stuff in NC since PA can be done anytime as it's closer. Here's a route with The Back of the Dragon, The Snake and Linville Falls Hwy. It's only 2 hours longer than your route. https://goo.gl/maps/dGo9vsgKsm72

And if it helps, this thread had all the best roads mapped out in the states between here and Deals Gap: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?199572-Stateside-Roads-the-twistier-the-better!

Safe trip!

The first thousand KM of that route is terrible highway.
