Stolen bike GPS alert/locator

I thought those were reasonably useless most of the time? Either thieves have a jammer in the van or they don't and the cops won't go into a potentially dangerous situation to recover property. I am sure there is a 1 in a 100 chance it helps, but paying $400 for those odds isn't worth it for me.
 
they need a canadian model, 3g has been decommissioned(or still in the process of being shut down) and is not compatible with 4G towers.
Onstar gave free 4g hardware upgrades to everyone with 2014 model trucks in 2015 because of this...i also scored 3 months of free 4g internet
 
pretty easy to hide those in a car or piece of equipment
on a bike would not take long to find it and turn it off
