This morning I was East Bound on the 401 and taking the off ramp over to 427 south.
Came upon what I thought was 3 OPP's on Harley's.
They were slowing down traffic riding at 70kph.
I was approaching at 80kph and was stuck behind people who would not pass an OPP bike.
Slowly I got around traffic and started to get onto the 427.
Then I notice that there were about 8 riders.
The lead rider approached the end of the merge lane, hit the lights, three more riders hit the lights.
Lead rider heads over to the fast lane, second rider moves over into the next lane, doing about 50kph.
I start thinking that they want to close the 427 for some kind of escort from the Airport or something.

Nope. They all caught up and proceeded in formation, doing 80kph slowing down traffic.

They all looked like beginners, learning to ride??????

Not at 70 kph on a major highway you don't. Don't care who you are, if you can't maintain flow of traffic gtfo.

And especially not in morning rush hour traffic on the Friday of a long weekend.

Just a thought though, maybe they were scanning and looking for something on the road?

maybe just showing off.. or doing their version of the motorcycle mob.. it was a long weekend after all...

btw.. interesting that we haven't seen that mob again..

They probably were training. We all have to learn someway.

Is having a motorcycle license not a prerequisite to becoming a bike cop?

I'd pass them if they were doing 70 on the 427. But then again I pass them when they're going above the limit on the 401 as well and have never been pulled over for it. One pulled up beside me and pointed at me and then at his speedometer repeatedly to tell me to slow down. Probably helped that I was in a company vehicle. He was doing 110 in the left lane at the time. I passed at 120 in the far right lane (since there was no traffic on the road it made no sense to sit in the left lane).

I got pulled over in my car for this same thing, very similar speeds. Didn't end up with a speeding ticket though. He did make me take the plate covers off my car claiming he couldn't see my plate (horse$#!T).
