I saw absolutely nothing that would have caused it. It seemed to be a combination of heavy traffic, people who couldn't merge properly further screwing things up, and a few rain showers which of course mandated that people slam on their brakes.

I looked - could not see any reports. I peeled off at 403 to Hamilton ...I stopped to look at traffic map and it was red for QEW all the way to St Catharines.. glad I went around.
