Shifting up correctly

I just stumbled upon this article today:

Basically it is saying we shouldn't pull in the clutch for upshifts.

I never knew about this, they didn't teach this technique at the MSF course (didn't get past 2nd gear in the parking lot anyways). So how wrong is pulling in the clutch while upshifting? Will it damage the clutch or gearbox?

It's called power shifting. And contrary to what that article says, you can do it downshifting, but most don't get it right. Besides they are talking about when hard accelerating....like drag racing. Day to day, keep using your clutch.

Not clutching puts more stress on the dogs then the stress of using the clutch puts on the clutch. Some bikes it's super easy to do it on, so do want you want, but while a clutch generally doesn't take too long to replace I don't have the time to split the cases to replace a gear
