Anyone else having Photobucket issues?

Overseas at the moment but can't load website, it's just some text links. Also, my pictures are missing from forum posts. Can someone verify?

Political thread. Marked for deletion.

Use imgur

or tinypic

Or google photos, its excellent.

Photobucket has long been a bloated piece of garbage

Apparently there was a recent ToS change and you can no longer use Photobucket for image hosting. I suspect they are also being DDOS'ed out of spite.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, screw them, that's extortion and greed. I think I lost quite a few of my own how-to's on some forums. I'll download my album and delete the account as soon as I get to a decent internet service over here.

I wasn't aware Google photos allowed 3rd party hosting but I'll look into it, got about 300 photos so far that I need to upload and save/protect.

Photobucket recently, without warning, changed their policies. Now, apparently, hot-linking to a photo on their site requires paying $400 (and I'm pretty sure that's US$) per year.

I've used Photobucket for years ... but no more.

Been a member since 2005, but that's coming to an end.

Same here - deleted all my photos and will no longer use photobucket. I moved to imgur.

What, being able to pay the bills?

The problem with hotlinking images is that only the image comes along for the ride, whereas the website that is bearing all the costs associated with hosting it get absolutely nothing in return - no website visits where they can make a penny on a few advertisements...nothing.

Eventually when the burden of the costs associated with doing that get overwhelming, something needs to change otherwise the website eventually just goes away.

$400 a year for image hotlinking is patently insane though - you could get your own server somewhere and host them yourself (like I do) for a fraction of that.

Same. The internet is a wonderfully large playground, and inhibitive policy will only drive users away. I suspect much of Photobucket's user base will be on the move. Can happen to any sight at any time...

I had some issues with the site a couple of years ago, and opened an imgur account. The big difference is that I have to set the size differently when I embed something now.

Something that is amusing to me is that there is an advertiser using an image in a vendor post here hosted by Photobucket. Either this change is not yet unilateral, or the advertiser coughed up the $400, which would be hilarious considering they definitely have web hosting somewhere. The outfit in question doesn't seem like the kind that would instantly buckle to a stupid demand, so unlikely

Nice fix

Yeah, that "advertisement" is going to kill their business for sure. For those on the other end of a bad business decision and keep bumping into PB blocked images do a search for "photobucket add-on" so you can install an add-on for Chrome or Firefox that bypasses those blocked images and shows the actually linked content.

Now THAT is a gem

you need to start uploading all your media content to pornhub. It's the most accessible website in the world!
