Naked bikes? #bikeporn

Define character. I'm not trying to pick a fight but "character" is the most abused word in the motorcycle world.

For me the torque and power delivery is what makes FZ07 so much fun. I actually prefer that twitchy throttle and occasional wheel of the ground even in a third gear. That's what I call bike with a character. 07 is light as feather, super flickable and IMHO darn good looking.

@unfazed

90 maybe at the wheel. 90 at the wheel is not "low" horsepower. Official specs are usually around 102-106HP at crank. FZ-07 has around 65HP at the wheel for example. Similar to SV650.

Fully adjustable suspension (2013 only). That's why I bought 2013 model.

Burns about 5.5 - 6l. Higher than FZ-09 and roughly what is generally posted on reviews.
Reviews generally agree that the fuel consumption could be better.

Power delivery is great. Maybe it's yours that needs a tune up?

Just one review for example. Most of the others on the web are similar.

It feels slow and heavy to me, but I am coming from SS and big 1000CC twins...I'm not knocking the bike I actually like it quite a bit for commuting and long trips. Mine is a '13 as well. I never get less than 5.5/100, even riding really hard, 4.8-5 on road trips.

Do you have a pipe or a remap or anything? Mine is completely stock in terms of power

The suspension is "adjustable" but it's still bargain bin and really undersprung and underdamped especially for heavier people like us (I'm about 200 lbs).

That's much better! ;)
When Harley guys say "character," it usually means that the vibration is re-adjusting their spinal cord.

Triumphs/Ducatis are more expensive(both to purchase and insure)

Not always. Depends on the model/class.

My Triumph Street Triple is only +/- a few beans compared to a Yamaha fz07 or a Ninja z800. The Ninja Z650 more expensive. No idea why.

Lol what? The fz 07 come in at roughly 7 k and the new street trip is around 11-12k

I read before the FZ6 isn't great on gas but damn I didn't think it'd be worse than a FZ8. I average about 6.5L/100km, the best I've ever gotten is 5.4 on my naked FZ6.

But then again, the vast majority of my riding is in town.

I only have a slip on. Remember reading somewhere that it really doesn't affect much on the FZ8.

Suspension is not comparable to super sports of course. ... But that is the case with almost all nakeds.

After a couple of weeks of riding the Tuono I got back on my Fazer for a quick jaunt and was struck by a couple of things:

- the power delivery really is "graceful"; typical well-fueled mid-size I4 where it's softish on the bottom followed by a nice swell of torque in the midrange and a reasonable top end rush
- the seat feels much lower compared to the Tuono even though on paper they're within a half-inch
- ergos feel "right"; the Tuono is more aggressive and racy while the Fazer is much more relaxed and "cruiser-esque"; it's just very "friendly" if that makes sense
- steering is quite a bit slower; brakes (obviously) not as good but not bad by any means
- ride quality; my Fazer is 6 years old now and has the non-adjustable suspension. Perhaps things have softened a bit over time but I noted its ride quality is great if you're looking for comfort. Yes, it's softly sprung and damped but for riding over frost-heaved and poorly repaired roads it's quite comfortable even if that comes at the expense of cat-like reflexes elsewhere

If I had a long trip ahead of me I would probably take the Fazer. There is nothing whatever wrong with that bike -- or its naked cousin -- for "sport touring": I think I'd rather ride the Fazer down to Tennessee and then switch to the Tuono for the TotD. :)

why the heck no one mention CB650F, it is coming North America. it is a great bike.

Overpriced, and it already exists

Im not sure if underwriters and insurance companies will be be able to tell the difference between a gsxr and a gsxs, so watch out for the premium

Its considered a naked not a ss, even though it has a gsxr motor

Yes but the insurance companies have a hard time making that distinction, because stupidity

Good bike but it will cost at least $2K - $3K more than competition ... why bother?

I could be mistaken but when I looked into the 650F a little bit, it seemed to be the best out of the competition but also the most expensive. So if you really wanted a Japanese middleweight naked bike and didn't mind spending an extra $2-3k to get the "best" one out of the bunch, would be a viable option

I would wager the fz 07 to be superior, and probably cheaper as well, previous years models were verging on 8k, for some reason i cant find the pricing on those, the website doesnt have the pricing on the new one

Havent even looked into z650

In all fairness, I think the FZ07 and CBR650F are aimed at different audiences. They just kind of end up being grouped together because they're both naked (semi naked for the Honda) and around the ~600cc mark.

I was in your boat a few years ago..almost went with the fz-09 but didnt like the seating position that much as well as the double insurance compared to the bike i ultimately ended up with and its a 2009 Street triple R and I love it!! Plus you barely see them around so you are not a run of the mill bike.
