Naked bikes? #bikeporn

Hi, I am looking into naked bikes trying to decide on my next ride. So far, things that turn me on are:

Yamaha FZ 07 (MT 07)
Kawasaki ER6N
Kawasaki Z650

Any other suggestions? I am looking to get something 3-5 years old, except for the Z650, which was launched this year.

any and all are good suggestions.

By the looks of it, shes not going for the 'bigger' nakeds and wants to stay 60-70 hp?

I got the fz07 and its a fantastic bike, great riding position, tons of torque and looks awesome too!

I have a Fazer8, which is the half faired version of the FZ8. It's a lovely machine with beautiful power delivery. A bit thirsty but that's about the only downside.
I have just done a 6,000km trip on it and a 5,000km trip the previous year.
FZ8 would be my choice for a affordable naked, albeit it does pack over 100HP.

For something cheap I would definitely look at an older SV650 - they were simple bikes but with a very pleasing range from the V-twin engine. Great sounding exhaust tone. Power output was just under 70HP, which was more than enough to keep up with the SS crowd in the twisties. I have owned an SV (S version though) as well and was quite happy with it.
(Keep in mind that Gladius is basically an SV - if you don't care about its controversial looks, you can get quite a bargain on it).

I also like the FZ-07 for a smaller, lighter rider (whom it was designed for), however, it is difficult finding one for a reasonable price at this moment (used).

Upgrading already?

FZ07 gets consistently good reviews.

Earlier models had fueling issues which I understand are now easily corrected by a dealer ecu reflash.

Weak brakes are usually the other gripe, again easily corrected by some better lines and pads.

Ducati monster or scrambler is another option.

Street Triple would be my personal choice, but I am biased amd love Triumphs... : )

If your looking for a fun bike that is cheap to purchase and insure, the fz 07 would be my choice.
If your budget is a bit lower, SV fits the bill well.

Triumphs/Ducatis are more expensive(both to purchase and insure)

I don't know what kind of riding you do but for me FZ07 fits the bill for city and occasional out of town riding. SV650 is a great bike as well but for me Yamaha have a bit more character. I never rode Z650 although people really like it. Once again, if it's me I would go FZ-07 all the way.

Character: Puts a smile on my face, or makes me **** my pants

Preferably both

Another vote for the Ducati Scrambler. It just oozes with "character".

Yup...Ducati Scrambler!

Scrambler keeps coming up, i'll have to test ride one of those maybe

???

Do we have the same Fz8-S/Fazer8?

They have 90HP stock, and get 5L/100 average, under 5 if you are just cruising around.

Downsides for me:
- bargain basement suspension (but fixable by fitting FZ1/R1 stuff, check FZ8 forums).
- low horsepower (definitely under 100 and noticeably slower than 600ss and big twins).
- **** power delivery, feels like a broken R1 that runs out of revs just as its about to come on cam

Upsides:
- really good gas mileage (if yours is "thirsty" its time for a tune-up)
- extremely comfortable
- FZ1 parts can be lego'd on (like a shock, for example)

Define character. I'm not trying to pick a fight but "character" is the most abused word in the motorcycle world.
I remember a long time ago when Jaguars couldn't compete with other brands from Germany or Japan on any level, they were always described as having 'character'.

I think today the word is still used to describe something that has flaws, but not the kind that breaks the deal. Character is about a bit of natural, humanizing imperfection in things. Hondas generally don't have a lot of character.

I still think my definition of character is the best

@unfazed

90 maybe at the wheel. 90 at the wheel is not "low" horsepower. Official specs are usually around 102-106HP at crank. FZ-07 has around 65HP at the wheel for example. Similar to SV650.

Fully adjustable suspension (2013 only). That's why I bought a 2013 model.
I think that was for the Fazer only, not the naked.
FZ-07 and FZ-09 also have fairly soft suspension.

Burns about 5.5 - 6l. Higher than FZ-09 and roughly what is posted on spec sheets.
Reviews generally agree that the fuel consumption could be better.
I am also 225lbs which probably doesn't help.

Power delivery is great.

Just one review for example. Most of the others on the web are similar.
