Yeah... Thought I waited out the storm, but seems I left 10 mins too early. Got blasted by sand for most of the ride, then 10 mins from my destination (an hr later), heavy winds and rain... Just another day I guess..

Pennsylvania is nice - in the cage anyways :)

suckered today - expected 17 and mixed sun ....got 14 and felt like 12 ....the several hundred at the Forks got bit by the same chilly wind. Glad I took my liner with me ....

It's actually quite pleasant out right this minute. Think I'll shove off for another quick lap. If this long weekend was analogous to my life this moment in time would the golden years and tomorrow certain death.

Nice if a little damp ride with the kid yesterday out towards St. Jacobs tho we held up at Fergus. both hungry and weather looked a little dire.

Had a bite then headed home ...got wet but rode out of it right quick so mellow jaunt home...part back roads part 401 - today on the other hand.. :( cage day

Today is a serious write off but weekend and next week looks decent ....hmmmm ....PA calls tho this is the long weekend there ....almost time to change the title of the thread to Summer Weather.

This sucks... Almost June and I only put on about 500 kms this year. By this time last year, I had already done several 1000+ km weekends. We better have a very warm late fall to make up for this.

Just got home from a 1300K 2 day trip on the scoot with a friend.

Yes indeed this is most certainly not like last spring...I just looked at my fuel logs from last year and by this time I'd had around 2500K on my bike, I'm still 100K or so behind last years total so far THIS year (at the same time) but only because of the aforementioned 1300K we just logged. Had it not been for that, well....would have been way behind, that's for sure. And we were lucky to squeeze that in given the weather now and tomorrow.

Just looking at the fuel logs from LAST spring is a good reminder of how great last spring was - around 800K in March, over 1000K in April, around 800K in May, and then the rest of the summer I tallied over 15,000K.

Ugh, I hope the summer shapes up better than how spring has been so far. We have about 20,000K worth of trips on the books but it's gonna suck if every other day is rainy and cold.

Ever see those compilation videos where unsuspecting plebes escape death by narrow margin? That's how I view non riding days. I'd like to hear more about those fuel logs tho. Are you running steam again?

You will see variable weather all summer with an El Nino in play and we are sitting right on the bubble as far as variable fronts.

Ontario and Quebec

This summer is not expected to be as hot or as dry as last summer, but the humidity will be more of an issue. Much like this spring, we have the potential to alternate between extended periods of both above seasonal and below seasonal temperatures. Across northwestern Ontario we expect that cooler temperature will be more dominant while southern and eastern Ontario should balance out near normal. The best chance of seeing temperatures tip to the warm side of normal looks to be across the Eastern Townships and near Montreal.

actually looks like a good year to do the Maritimes a bit early.

For those Alaska bound looks to be a good year.

Northern Canada

The Yukon Territory can look forward to a warmer than normal summer while much of the Northwest Territories will see near normal temperatures. Below normal temperatures are expected for southern Nunavut while above normal temperatures are forecast for most of Baffin Island.

My Superior loop is certainly going to wait until it gets too hot in the GTA

Dodged a bit of rain on Friday but despite the gray skies today is very nice. Wandering around the back roads towards Elora and lunch at the Lost and Found Cafe ....run by a spin off of the Higher Ground crew at Belfountain. Nice to see the girls doing okay ...good location in the mews and some outside seating as well as inside.

Nice to have a destination a bit further out than the Forks.

Some good cafes ...Bicycle in Flesherton

Then there are a couple in Thornbury for a longer ride up to Georgian Bay - Beaver Valley Road a reasonable route .....

including a gastropub I have yet to try and a very yummy bakery

Heading north there is a burger stop at Eugenia Falls and then pick up Beaver Valley.

Good day - get out there

Thunderstorm dodging day ...hail too....- much fun

I'm f***ed. Just because the weather forecast lied to me yesterday.

Re: Finally some decent riding weather

Geez they nailed it today ....what perfect weather. Didn't do the long loop I intended as had the wrong seat on but still got some distance and some lovely roads north of Hockley and a fast with the wind ride home on the slab.

Yesterday marked my first real ride out of the city this year....normally that happens late April or early May...

Didn't go that far due to other commitments, but this does seem to be the year of 1-2 good days per week, which may or may not occur on the weekend.

Re: Finally some decent riding weather

This sums up my feelings on this spring so far.

Re: Finally some decent riding weather

Yeah, lots of rain lately.
I've managed to get out for a number of rides with friends so far this season.
