Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Name one that expected their employer to give them free electricity.

As for the $14,000 nobody asked, it was offered. Would you turn it down?

IIRC Slowbird was pushing for it (failed attempt apparently) and PP's wife was told from above that chargers were coming (again I think failed). If an employer wants to offer charging why should I care? It's no different than any other perk.

The 14K was dumb (like most liberal green policies it was entirely misguided and far from the most effective use of funds) but I don't blame anyone that took advantage of it. For those people, it will cancel out the next few decades of crazy hydro prices caused by the other dumb polices.

Neither was 'expecting' it, they both bought the car despite not having an outlet at work. It was a 'nice to have' type of thing.

Me too - didn't ask for a rebate but gladly took it. Asked about free charging at work and was told maybe someday, but not now.

Life is about balance and yet some people will always have a pickle up their butt.

What a sorry excuse... "I didn't ask for other taxpayer's money but since it was offered I took it."

Only slightly better than just taking it, I guess, but at the end of the day you are still sucking on the taxpayer's tit for your personal gain, so I stand by my leeches and mooches comment. Sorry if the truth hurts fellas.
Love to see you avoid everthing that's taxpayer supported because you're such a strong, self-sufficient man who pays for everything out of his own pocket and will never 'leech' or 'mooch' off of systems or services that everyone pays for but are there for your benefit.

Lots of posts deleted. A couple logins banned (but that doesn't mean we left, FMJ). It only takes a minute to change an IP and create a new username.

Typical liberal idiots here that think banning will solve anything. What are you, British or just stupid?

And typical liberal socialists here in this thread that gladly mooch off the Ontario taxpayers.

Banning doesn't solve anything, it just attempts to make the moderators life easier. They get paid nothing and having to continually clean up garbage posts from a few accounts takes too much time. Yes it is easy to make a new account and many have done it, but over time they get bored with this game and go away.

How empty and pathetic is your life that you have to make new usernames just to rant politics on a motorcycle forum?

So my sis is in the market to replace her Escape, I'm going to give her the run down on the Volt in case she's unaware like most people.

In researching I found a 2017 model here (she's in QC) http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/a/chevrol...wCpo&ncse=no&orup=4_15_29&pc=J0T 2N0&sprx=100 that has 150,000 km already. That's 200km per day, every single day for 2 years! I've never seen anything like that before, and it's especially odd for a series hybrid that would need constant recharging to get the most out of it.

I'm not usually concerned about high mileage but this one is outside my comfort zone because I just don't understand the use case behind it. Regardless, what would be the things to look for on a high mileage Volt like this, and how much should it affect the price?

Also a side question, the ad mentions CarPlay but not Android Auto, doesn't it come with both?

Mine has 264k on it now.

I’d be more concerned with issues relating to the gas ICE than anything battery related. Brakes, suspension, wheel bearings, spark plugs, coils, PCV valve, valve cover gasket. Normal stuff you’d check if buying a Cruze with 150k on it.

Got an email from Tesla just now. Apparently I got on their mailing list somehow.

They're saying they're open for new Model 3 orders without the need for a reservation, for delivery in 2-4 months.

While that may be a good sign of their production capability (or may not), it's definitely a sign that many of the 400,000 people who had reserved one haven't all followed through with a purchase. There's no way Tesla has built that many yet. It suggests the market for $35,000 EVs just isn't large enough to sustain Tesla, and certainly not at the $50,000+ figure that they're going for now. I think their goose is cooked.

Edit:
Oh, and add the tariffs on top of that, yeeeeek....

Has anyone taken delivery of a $35K Tesla yet?

I thought those won’t be available until 2019?

also IIRC Tesla owners waiting for their delivery do not get the grace period for the ONT rebate in Sept....they lost it the day of the announcement. Could be a reason for many cancellations.

They have never made one and I am sticking by my original assertion that it is vaporware and may never be made.

Tesla is putting the most profitable models to the front of the line. If you want a 3 fast now, you need to 9rder dual motor performance model. Skipping performance delays your order by months.

Yikes.

From the moment they opened the reservations and received that enormous flood of them, I was concerned about pent-up demand versus sustained demand.

How does the Ontario market impact their global market? I know they’re trying to rush deliveries to Ontario at the moment to meet that deadline for the rebate but after that how much of a dip will they see in demand?

California, Quebec, BC and Norway still represent a big market, do they not?

Ontario deadline already passed for Tesla. I expect very few new 3's will be registered. A month or so ago Tesla sent many many 3's up to beat the deadline.

There are two Model 3's at my work. They got here before the deadline.

I have only seen them from afar but they're neat looking.

Fiancee's uncle took possession of his Model 3 about 1.5 months ago (as well as home charger) and took advantage of both rebates. Too bad I haven't seem him since he got his car, but he started an Instagram account for it and is pretty detailed in the features and random Tesla facts/stats. @teslablogs

It's kind of weird because he never really was a car guy, nor a social media/Instagram user until he got his car.

A couple things that stand out to me is the less than 10% battery degradation at 160k miles, over-the-air software updates, the cost of using a super charger costing $0.80 for a 67% charge, and of course the Autopilot.
