this is a cross post from the US Strom forum

We have been very happy with the Scott 3 season jackets we bought and your high dollar makes them way cheap ( for a Gortex Jacket )...- they arrived in about 2 weeks after ordering. We bought a size up.

We bought these when they were on sale

and they've held up very well.

BUT

They are tight across the chest and waist for the shoulder width tho waist is adjustable.

Brilliant pockets and overall design details.
FYI if it says Gortex then you have a lifetime guarantee for being waterproof.

For more than 30 years, GORE-TEX® products have been delivering comfort and protection so you can enjoy your outdoor activities with confidence. The GORE-TEX® membrane is integrated in the garment between the outer material and the lining. It is a perfect barrier to rain and wind, while allowing perspiration to escape. Even in cases of extreme physical exertion, humidity will be transported to the outside of the clothing system and you always stay comfortable in your SCOTT garments engineered with GORE-TEX® products.

Material:
GORE-TEX® membrane, windproof, breathable and waterproof

Features:
Directlaminated 3 Layer GORE-TEX® construction
Ventilationsystem through the removable inner collar-tube, stack-effect
Comfortable high collar with automatic magnetic lock system
Waterproof stormcuff with thumbloop
Insulated frontflap
Removable inner thermo-insulaton with supersoft padding and ripstop taffetta
Meshlining with padded kidneypanel
Long Connection Zipper to connect pant
Cordura and Superfabric reinforcements
SAS-TEC protectors EN 1621-1 approved at shoulder and elbow
3D-meshpocket for optional backprotector
Adjustment at collar, waist, hem, sleeve and cuff
Reflective elements
3 waterresistant outer pockets
2 waterproof innerpockets
Precurved sportive touring fitting

The jackets are heavy but don't feel that way when riding.

It was nice going off for 3 weeks with no rain jacket to pack.
Above 80F or so they are too warm tho the air flow is not bad.

They also have a wide range of sizes - you will always pay more for Gortex branded..

I don't see much under $1000 so $318 for a brand name Gortex is indeed cost effective

If you decide to go with the non-Gortex breathable version ...I'd take a serious look at this

I've been impressed with First Gear and can tell you their gloves ARE waterproof and the lining does not pull out
Very good value in a 3 season glove
and the flexible TPG Armor is a treat.

Very good price for a goretex jacket. Not a fan of the styling of the jacket though, but as long as it works in the end that is all that really matters. I am sold on Goretex, a 2 week trip in non stop rain out to Nova Scotia and dry the entire time left me convinced.
