If the tech is available at a reasonable cost, why not. Used to wear just a leather jacket, then with added padding/armour and full suits.
The older CO2 cartridge vests seemed to have acquitted themselves well enough (Hit Air, Helite). Wasn't quite convinced that I needed another layer of accessories though. A decently priced integrated jacket would fit the bill, especially since I'll need a new one soon. No weird styling or colour combos, please.
I know two or three people who wear them now.
