Some of this (US election result) is on the Democrats. Almost any of the other choices they had available to them ought to have done better than Hilary Clinton.

Having a choice between the least-popular presidential candidate ever, and the second-least-popular candidate ever (and it really doesn't matter which way 'round they go) was unprecedented.
