It's a comment that would put a normal person in jail. So yes, if they want public to be sympathetic, they probably should lie.

I personally don't care much whether they lie or are honest. However, I would like for them to be held accountable for their actions and maybe, at least, stop racking up all this overtime that I pay for out of my pocket.
