Dipping for crusty engine parts

I bought a Suzuki X7 back in the summer and its in a bit of a sorry state. I've had the chassis parts sandblasted and have those in primer but I'm now working on the engine.

Its crusted with oil and crud and there a lot of gas residue caked on the inside of the crank case, I guess the needle valves weren't seating and it filled up the bottom of the engine.

Been working at it with Gunk and a tooth brush but getting frustrated.

Can you still get engine parts dipped to clean them or is that too environmentally unfriendly these days. Would prefer to stay away from the hot caustic dips as the motor is all aluminium. The clutch and alternator cover have been painted blue so I was hoping that it would also loosen that up.

Any suggestions? Can rad shops still do this?

Yes. Tried that. The basement smells great But it didn't do much to the crud

Try a really powerful paint remover.
The parts were originally painted and then clear coated.
Might help ?

pine-sol works for gummy gas, you may need to find a large sonic cleaner for the rest.

I've heard of and seen results from vapour blasting on small parts and engine cases that are stunning.

Can't vouch for these guys but they're GTA and do the process. Might be worthwhile looking into it:
