Holiday deals thread

Just saw this at Bed Bath and Beyond, not sure if you motocamping types would need this, but thought of @shanekingsley when I saw it:

Packed down pretty small imo

^^ Yeah I don't know anything else that depreciates as much as TV's do. The 65" 4K TV's are sitting at around $1500ish right now.

& thanks Joe - those look warm.

Buddy at work just bought a 65" Haier 4k (60hz iirc) from Costco ~$800

Well..tnks Joe!lol But it's not fair to compare when i buy a Cadillac and you buy a chevrolet;) I'm not saying the Haier are not good tv's but is the quality the same?

Well, Chevy & Caddy are basically the same thing, right? ?
To be fair, the 60 hz makes the refresh lag a bit during sports and action movies, but he says from a stop to a quick start only.
The real savings is that it is not a Smart TV. I'm not a huge videophile (?), so for me 4k is meh. But I liken Haier to Vizio 10 years ago; decent products for the price.

Save your money buy a 1080p 65 inch tv with at least 120hz refresh.
Toss in an android box for $70 and you have smart tv.
buy a $20 keyboard with mouse built in.

4k does look nice but there really is not much in 4k.
When you are sitting 10 feet back, 1080p will look fine.
It's when you are sitting up close (less than 10 feet) then 4k will be clearer.

For anyone into running, duathlons and triathlons, there is a store called Du Tri & Run that has about 50% off on their shoes and clothing/gear.
They have very high quality gear.
They are in Mississauga, in Clarkson and do not have a website for online sales.

Another year, another opportunity for savings. Let's start off the 2017 holiday deals. The old 2016 deals are in the earlier posts and can provide for some interesting price and product comparisons.

The Microsoft Store Canada 12 days of deals has started for the holidays.
Check these links.

I've purchased from them multiple times. Great sales, free shipping, simple easy returns (and free as well).

I know, clothes are boring, but we need them.

Haggar is having their annual warehouse sale - 91 Martin Ross Dr. Until this Saturday (Dec 9)
Good long sleeve shirts and pants, casual and dress- $15/ea, 2 for $25.
Cole Haan shoes - $40.00/pr.
Stock changes daily.

My gf and I both bought a bunch of stuff there. As did my brother and most of the guys from my office.

of course from a security conscious background like a BlackBerry website, how about a lifetime VPN for $49 (regularly $900)

browse securely.

Many lifetime VPN's on that site for 90%+ off. Seems decidedly dodgy. Why would any company offer a lifetime at over 90% off? First year to suck people in, sure, but forever? My suspicion is those companies will collect subscriptions and then fold (or be so slow that everybody stops using them). All of the main VPN providers are in the ballpark of $40/yr.

if anyone sees a good deal on a tablet let me know. looking for cheap for a 5 year old.
im a android guy.

Samsung Tab A seems to be on for $150 most places this week.
You should be fine with the 7" lite from Samsung. They *were* on for $89 on black friday. But I think Walmart has them at $99 or $119.
If your kid is like mine, it's a few games and YT, which the tablet works fine for. I did spend $20ish on a bumper type case for it from Amazon. Easier to hold for them and helps if dropped. Oh, and get a screen protector too.
Fyi- if you aren't already using it, download YouTubeKids. Voice search and blocks most unwanted content.

Edit: wtf? 7" lite and the Tab A are the same price now at $150? Tab A is the better deal, but still too much tablet for a 5 yo imo.
Came across this, and has the bumper case:
