Holiday deals thread

Not a holiday deal per se, but a potential gift and great value.

Amazon Prime now has TV streaming in Canada (been big in the US for a while). Many think they will be a top two provider of streaming TV in Canada soon. Cheaper than netflix.

$80 per year, free trial.

Other benefits of amazone prime.

Not finding it easy to get apps on android boxes for this. Right now I'm just have the app on my iPad. Doesn't look too bad and it's basically a freebie as I already had Prime anyway.

If you have a VPN they don't restrict it like Netflix so you can see the full US library.

Also, the Grand Tour is awesome.

I installed Kodi with the PULSE addon, freaking AWESOME!!!!
Grand Tour was there in the 4k section. good show :)

IF you have a laptop or any tablet apple/android go to Youtube and follow this.
Pulse is VERY well done and easy to use add on.

@NFQ What VPN service did you get? I still have not gotten one but I will.

Follow this simple video and you will be good to go in 3 steps.

sorry I meant PULSE
The PULSE ADDON

Kodi with Pulse gives you just about every damn thing.
It's easy to use also, the kids section, even a workout section.
They also have it default setup to launch the movie meaning it will pick the best source so you do not have to do that.
I did have to switch from 1080p to 720p halfway through a movie because that stream was stuttering.
I simply long pressed the OK/Enter key on my remote and it gave me option to pick other source...so that was cool.

I am liking this build, it's also fast.

For those looking to get more data on Rogers and Fido (that aren't on a 6gb grandfathered plan), you can get the following for $50/mo:
• 4GB Data
• Unlimited Canada-wide Calling
• Unlimited Sent & Received Text, Picture & Video Messages
• Call Display and Voicemail
• 2500 Call Forwarding Minutes
• Conference Calling
• Call Waiting

Just got mine set up with Fido yesterday - bring your own phone, no contract.

Rogers is for existing Rogers customers, Fido is for those switching over to Fido - however, many people (including myself) which were on Fido originally have been able to get them to price match Rogers.

Ahh. I've been using Exodus mainly.

I already have a good pair of headphones, but this deal caught my eye - Sennheiser HD598s for $150 shipped http://a.co/6X2AWk1

Last year I got a 40" Samsung Smart TV and we are really happy with it. We want another one in our basement for the workout room.

If anyone sees a good deal on a TV about the same size post it up!

have you compared to others... I was thinking about a heated jacket... Marks has fleece for $150 ish.. and princess auto has some,, they have batteries in a pocket they don't connect to the vehicle ... so I am just wondering..

Batteries? Wouldn't even think of riding anywhere for anytime with batteries. That's what a big charging system is for. What is the fleece for?

I picked up a Milwaukee hoodie a couple years back, you can run it off the included battery or plug it in with a 12v adaptor... I end up using it on battery all the time

LOL. Nice. I've been watching them for a while. They've been on sale for most of this holiday season from early on. Great product and price. I showed a friend who was considering Beats headphones, aka "showed him the light"; he picked some up. And another set ended up under my tree. ;)

If one absolutely needs a closed-back headphone, these are a great deal right now at $130. https://www.amazon.ca/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS

Picked up a pair of the Burl Woods for $170 all in. My wife bought the closed-back ones for $110+, on Black Friday.

Fido has an unadvertised plan they're selling for Boxing Day:

$60/month:

6 gigs of data
Unlimited Canada-wide calling
Unlimited texts and picture texts in North America
Voicemail & call display
1000 minutes/month international long distance to select countries.

2001 Audio Video has a 40" Samsung 4k UHD Smart TV for $500 - good enough for me.
