Motorcycle stands vs. jack lift???

Throwing my two cents in --- a rear spool stand is all you need to store away your motorbike. A triple-tree stand for the front is a bonus, but ain't needed. When I had my Ninja500 with the center-stand I loved it. Stored it on the center stand and it made basic maintenance very easy. It's a one time pseudo expensive purchase from Yamaha (or SW-Motech), but if you wouldn't mind the look of it on the bike or the cost - get it over the spool stand and call it a day.

http://www.motorcycleinnovations.ca/product_p/hps.06.506.10000.b.htm but it shows out of stock...in Mississauga...maybe call and see when they'll get more...

I have the same bike and we're storing our bikes in an enclosed trailer with a wooden floor...last year we just strapped the bikes down as if we were going to transport them and left them that way...I have a rear swingarm stand from my FZ6R which I might use to lift the rear tire, but I don't usually worry about it and haven't had any issues on any of my previous bikes with tires getting flat spots...

Are you having a stroke?

The forum is acting weird. It doesn't let you key space. You basically type a letter or word, hit "enter" then you'll be able to type normally again.

That typing seems like he was holding his breath :p

Thank you all for the recommendations. I'm gonna get the spools. That seems like a simple solution.

I never noticed an issue. Always on FF here.

Goodluck eevveess!

FWIW I've owned about 15 bikes over 30 plus years and if they didn't have a center stand they sat on the ground over the winter. Never had problem.

Come to think of it my Dad has always had 800lb+ cruisers and they were always stored for winter on the side with no ill effects on the tires.

If you don't have stands just leave the thing parked how you normally would. Your going to end up needing new fork seals if your keeping your bike strapped down for the winter.
