Voltage question

I am looking at buying a set of 12v heated liners. I would like to use them for other applications other than just riding. In the cases when I am not riding I would like to connect them to one of my 20V Dewalt batteries. Just wondering if this will fry the glove liners and possibly my hands (lol).

There are such things as battery-powered glove liners. https://firedupx.com/

But yeah, you risk damaging the glove liners at best, and setting something on fire at worst. If you really wanted to go that way, you'd have to figure out a way to step the voltage down between the battery and gloves. Someone who understand electronics and has a bin of spare parts could probably make something in about five minutes... I'm not that person though

That's what I thought. Thanks

You'll need a 20v to 12 v step down transformer, something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/HOSSEN®-Converter-Regulator-Step-Down/dp/B00BWKXTUU Without it you'll burn up the wire, the gloves and possibly you.

When you increase the voltage the power output (Watts) goes up exponentially. A 12 volt heater running on 20 volts will put out about three times the heat.

Since you will likely be bypassing or not installing safety devices it could go seriously wrong.

An old guy in Niagara on the Lake died of burn injuries from a floor warming system hooked to the wrong voltage. Rare but it happens.

BTW the step down device is a regulator. Transformers are AC devices.
