Beauty Day in the East End

Nice!

I did a big loop out to Calabogie. It was chilly this morning but warmed up in the afternoon.

that is a great ride, did it earlier this year, Hwy 65/508 from Hwy 41 to Calabogie has been my favourite ride in Ontario so far

Did this yesterday with some friends...around 400K. Leisurely pace on the way out (highway 2 until Brighton) and then poked along through the countryside, lunch in picton, a visit to the cheese factory for ice cream, stopped at Lake on the Mountain for some photos....ferry ride across at Glenora and then some more countryside up to Napanee. Flat topped the way home, but the reality was that despite leaving at 9AM it was about 3PM when we hit Napanee, so if we had poked home on the sideroads we'd have been home well after dark...and given how chilly it was supposed to be we opted to express home instead.

Beautiful ride, though.

If you have time next time, get off the highway at Mill Street in Newcastle and head South East along the Lakeshore, very scenic. Just be somewhat careful, the road conditions are less than perfect. Some loose gravel and sort of bumpy

Thanks, We have ridden that stretch of Lakeshore Road many many times however – we do really enjoy it however it can be a slow go compared to 2, and with wanting lots of time for a leisurely pace down Picton way we opted for highway 2 to port hope instead.

For what it's worth they did do some work on Lakeshore Road about a month or so ago, patched a bunch of the potholes and such, but they used a lot of skimcoat asphalt in some spots so some friends are not happy with the results. Still a great ride and stretch of road to me.
