I thought the general GTAM consensus is the bike never hits anything...other things always get in the way or hit them instead.
I like to be contrarian to some of what passes for wisdom and common sense on GTAM.
When I'm passing, I pass. Once I'm by, I pull over and slow down.
Catching up to the next clump of vehicles used to be my goal.
I wanted to be the last vehicle in the group ahead of us.
Not anymore. I prefer to fill the gaps now, but realize that there's also a safety concern with riding the gap;
since many people wait for that big group to pass, and then pull out without looking as well as they should.
